i always thought he was a happy person it seems i was wrong i saw the movie with anthony hopkins as picasso, and it was pretty good-but i don't think the movie was to close to his real life |

artists rarely have happy home lives....or happy lives period. they put all that emotion into their work and thats what sometimes makes them genius artists. you should read one of his biographies....he did a lot of NOT so PC stuff during WWII so he could keep painting. it's rather shocking. and always fascinating! |

I love reading about the lives of artists, specifically painters. I'm not a big fan of Picasso's work, but my favorite painting of his is Death of Casagemas, which has a very interesting and tragic story behind it. |

i don't know much about picasso neither i hear he was a real pig in his relations with women- he always took his wife and like 5 mistresses when he went on a trip and that he kept all his hair and nails-because he was presumably scared of voodoo |

you should read about vincent van gogh.....he's my favourite. totally fascinating and there's a series of letters between him and his brother that are so tragic....makes you understand why Theo died about 6 mos after Vincent. Death of Casagemas - is a very interesting piece. i like they way he painted the candle in that one. my favourite is the black and white piece called Guernica which also has a very interesting story behind it! |

Yeah, Guernica is another of his I like. And, Van Gogh happens to be my favorite painter as well, but I haven't read the letters, I'll have to check those out, thanks. :) |
