interesting.
pretty cool, but you should've made it a little less like
the original methinks.

less like the original?

hehe the original is like 45 seconds of the synth melody and
thats it

:)

i know man, but i seems like you just add some beats over
the orginal and cut that flute sound from the end in every
once and a while.

well...

ok

but isnt a remix supposed to develop on the original track?

i didnt have anything to work with besides the melody and
flutey thing...

and i did more then just beats over it :)

What do you use to make your music? I'm interested.

Pretty good... the beats go pretty naturally with the
melody, which of course is GORGEOUS... bet you wish YOU
wrote that. ;-p

The actual sound of the beats, I'm not too fond of... I
can't really explain, too hip hoppy or something... but I
like it a lot, this track is staying on my hard drive.

actually he did write the melody, BOC ripped him off! that's
why you can never put mp3's on the internet! ;)

WOOWWWEEE.

Hehehe. Loved it a lot. I don't make music, so I haven't got
any criticism. Err..that's how you spell it, right?

Yah, liked the remix a lot. Very nice.

*plays again*

hey thanks guys!

:)

Dj Xammax: i made it with reason.

to get the samples, i converted the mp3 to wav form... which
i edited in a program caled "SparkeLE"

then I opened the wav file in the sampler in reason, and did
all the other elements in reason as well :)

oh dear. this won't do..

this now sounds like a bad emulation of BoC. there is no
spark, I can't here any reason why you should want to remix
this. let me explain - there has to be something more why
you'd want to remix anything, not just that you really love
a melody. you still have to DO something with it, not just
repeat it and put a nice little beat under it.

I think your idea of remixes is nice, but just that, its
NICE. to me a remix takes the original and can stay quite
close to the original and mix something completely new into
it, making the sum of all its parts a completely new track,
or a remix can be something completely new, unrecognisable.

I think thats the biggest problem with it - it can't hear
anything new in it.
you're being too carefull with the original, thus NOT making
it your own.

the song, as a parody of qrter... watch how i change it!!

Hey, am listening to the track. Nice break you got going in
there, that's the kind of break I want. Where did you get
them? Anyways, great remix. Good special FX used too, I can
hear the BOC synth going in a filter.

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-08-20 05:23 [#00356902]

i use the program reason,

i programmed the drums myself :D

qrtr: you really think it sounds like BoC? hmmm. oh well.

and yeah, I didnt stray too far from it... but in all
honesty... besides just running it through a million
effects, you cant do much with just a synth line. I tried
picking the notes out by ear, to reharmonize it, but with
the synth sound they used, morphing and what not, i couldnt
get my ear to hear it right.

so, basically, it was like an extension of the original.
Just how i would have liked to hear it...

so my point is...

uhhh...

sorry you didnt like it :S

Slick but noneventful - I listened to 12 species.... and
felt that was slick but noneventful.
