question about virusses :

just this morning ,surfing the net and reviewing some tunes
over at watmm.com in the knob-twiddler section.

All of a sudden ,I got these strange typing errors, capslock
went baserk. etc etc . So, I suspected a virus,.even though
I have a fairly new version of Norton Anti virus installed.

I remembered a site with free antivirus software
(www.download.com) and dl-ed Vcatch. It immediately found a
corrupt file (a corrupted quicktime.exe).

Still ,I wasn't assured so I posted a question on this board
about sites that scan your HD for virusses. Pogo suggested a
link and that site found another one!

Thank god,.hopefully my comp. is clean now as a crash would
be devestating.(half years worth of music gone)

Now my question is :

when infected with a virus ,does this virus transport it
self to CD-r when I burn stuff like mp3z or Div-x movies?
(or does it only spread when I transport or open the
corrupted file?)

Cause I don't know how long the comp. has been infected. And
I've done lots of burning.

Norton Anti Virus didn't fix it up? Hmmm... I have Norton,
and it updates itself like every DAY...

What's this other site Pogo gave you?

Since the code is embeded in the file the virus wil be on
the cd if it's a date cd. I don't know about audio
though...

It depends on the type of a virus. If a virus is infecting
executables only - you're safe. But I've seen viruses that
corrupt everything they see - in this case, your mpegs can
also be fucked.
