i think its as good as entroducing. everyone overrates
endtroducing. i dont know why people have a beef with
private press. no one talks about preemptive strike either.

You Can't Go Home Again is one of the best songs I've heard
in the last while... this cd is amazing, and I like it
better then Endtroducing...

blazing arrow seems to get slagged because its too 'RnB' but
its brilliant, perfect car music (which is in no way a bad
thing!)....why should non mainstream music be catchy and
funky?

Im dissapointed that RJD2s - Dead Ringer aint on your list
:(

The other albums are dope, DOPE!!!

I actually think the Dead Ringer album is better than DJ
Shadows (their albums is pretty alike).

DJ Xammax: U should definityl get RJD2s album "Dead Ringer"
if u like Shadow, I highly recommend it. :=)

haven't bought it yet :) RJD2, APC, lauryn hill, faultline,
mum.. ain't bought none of those yet. i'm on top of things
as you can see from my list but i don't have everything
yet.

i've heard 4 or 5 RJD2 songs from the albums, maybe i'm
biased cos of the damn promo voices in the mp3's but the
music sounds too similar (so far). but i am going to buy it
this month or next and give it a fairer listen.

Darn right, Private Press is outstanding. I love the second
part to Blood on the Motorway.

ive been addicted to the private press for some weeks now.
maybe in the long run, it will not be quite as
groundbreaking as endtroducing, but ive found that at the
moment, it seems fucking brilliant. there are maybe one or
two tracks that i totally dislike, "right thing". but the
rest of it is just amazing. 'fixed income' and 'mongrel
meets his maker' are my favorites at the moment. there is
one element of dj shadow that bugs me a little though. i
think he killed the track 'blood on the motorway' by that
sample 1/2 through the song. those type of samples just
really annoy me. the one on 'six days' actually works
though. good stuff.

which sample?

"fixed income" is my favorite too =)

the sample where he says 'you have not betrayed your ideals,
your ideals have betrayed you'. the whole sample is
annoying, and it takes away fro m the music. just an opinion
though.

i like the sample personally, but to each his own. what i
DON'T like about that song is how it stops all of a sudden
1/3 way through. totally kills the mood.

offline icewaves from United States on 2002-08-18 02:55 [#00354291]

yeah it kinda does. it seems like there is some distortion
on the piano when it comes back. on the other hand, i love
the way 'mongrell meets his maker' stops. it weird that it
is 2 seperate tracks though.

i don't really like how that one stops either, but it does
make more sense than it does on blood

I love this album...I wasn't sure whether or not to get it
but I'm very happy with it, specifically fixed income, six
days, and blood on the motorway.
