As heavy-handed as this seems, it's probably legal. In the acceptable use agreement of my ISP, you agree not to make copyrighted material available. If you do, your account can be terminated. This clause has been in there ever since I signed up (3 years or more). It's no big surprise that the owners of the material are finally coming after the file sharers. We need to move to more clever p2p systems that hide your IP address from downloaders. |

You shouldn't worry unless you're sharing music and movies. I don't think they are going to bust you for downloading things (yet). A lot of programs act the good netizen and automatically share things you've downloaded, so you might be unwittingly sharing. is a recent news story about this crackdown. They are going to try to send people to jail in the USA ... |
