Just read an article in 'Daily Mirror'(UK 'newspaper') that
questions why Elvis impersonators always dress up as Elvis
in his later years (i.e.jumpsuits,bloated,etc).It suggested
it was a reflection of ourselves(In particular,we like to
see successful people be unhappy). What do you think?

Also,anyone here like Elvis?(uhha
uhha).Sorry.Personally,some of his tunes kick ass (Hound
Dog,J.Rock).and no,i don't dress up.

It's because most elvis impersonators are fat old ugly men.
No-one who is young and with a great singing voice would
want to be an elvis impersonator.

Yeah I got into Elvis in a big way for about a year (over it
now).

I think another reason people dress up like later day Elvis
is because the costumes were so outlandish. The sequened
jumpsuits - that's Elvis as Icon.

As for his best stuff I love:

a. Are You Lonesome Tonight (famous laughing version live)
b. Stranger In The Crowd
c. Peace In The Valley
d. Kentucky Rain

Download any of those and you'll understand the power of
Elvis.

i just WON 50 bucks on an ELVIS slot machine in VEGAS!! (tis
the best slot machine honestly)

it's gonna be 25 yrs since his death and he's still in the
news, that says what kind of influence da man had. i enjoy
some of his songs (he's played constantly in Vegas in
various casino's) and i feel sorry for his seemingly unhappy
life toward the end. seems like he had too many people
taking care of him that really didn't CARE about him. it's
prolly true in a lot of celebrities cases =0(

suspicious minds is probably my fav elvis track.I watched
frankie & johnny,on tv at work today, which was a big pile of
monkey spunk, like most of his films.

I seen one of his last concerts recently,I just couldnt
believe how much of a hideous fucker he had turned
into, quite sad really[but i did laugh as he had an xl coca
cola and burger on the piano].I feel sorry for the person
who found him on the toilet.

Interesting what you said about no one caring about him,as i
read one of his quotes which went along the lines of: "I had
about seven people to get me a Coke, but no friends."

I think it is this Saturday that is the 'anniversary'.

Also, congrats on you're win! ( I bet you were tying cherry
stems with your tongue at the same time,eh?!).lol etc.

I love Elvis - there is a big competition in Malaysia, I
think it's Malaysia, I was half-asleep when the news item
was on my tv set - the split was 50/50 as to which Elvis Era
was represented.

of course.

I watched Larry King interview Priscilla in Graceland a
while ago. Elvis had a neat house full of cool stuff, and
its kind of frozen in time. Including Priscilla, who is now
a creepy animated mannequin.

Elvis' house is awesome. The Jungle room is the best lounge
I have been in and I gave serious thought to remodelling my
lounge (same shape) in a similar style.

'Crying in the Chapel' is one of my favourite sings. I know
it's a staple blues song better done by the other guys that
I can't remember right now. I don't think he was an evil
idiot but he was railroaded into doing some crap.

I'm hardly some old lady with velvet Elvis paintings on the
wall, but there were Britney's during that time and Elvis
wasn't one of them. He could sing (w/ originality), and
write great music. Two things you don't see anymore.

Blues Suede Shoes version by Carl Perkins was better of
Elvis version.

Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and Jerry Lee Lewis was probably
better artists imo
