i think it was a side project off ill communication or check your head. so it probably came out in 93 or 94.
i'm pretty sure its just mike d.

The "explanation" behind Country Mike was that Mike D. got hit on the head with something and became amnesiatic... as he began recovering his memories, he began to think that he was a famous country singer, and the rest of the Beasties had to humour him or risk permanent psychological damage.
A cute story, but not true.
They just decided to do some country for shits 'n giggles. They've done just about everything else, right?

that explanation is in anthology i think. that albums got some other funny outtake kind of things on it, such as what sounds like a drunk rapper singing a bad karaoke version of Benny and the Jets.
