Aphex and Warp...the end?

Doesnt Aphex end his contract with this remix compilation?
if so, do you think that he will ever release anything under
his aphex twin guise again.
i've been thinking about this a lot recently and i think he
might start making tunes under a totally new name and
everything so that nobody knows who he is.
This is worrying.
I live to hear new aphex. If he stops making music, what the
hell am i supposed to do?!

i was wondering why rephlex is working with warp, if rdj is
not happy with it?

this whole situation is just too confuseing for me

oh, and if richards new stuff (when he ends his work for
warp) is going to be any good, im sure you will hear abiut
it , no matter what name he is going to release under

yes it is confusing, but as long as the music is good, that
doesn't bother me.

I don't think rdj will ever stop making new tunes.
And if he uses another name....so what?
it's him!!

Some said Drukqs was a contract-filler. Obviously it was
not. Haven't read anything about this in interviews, so
maybe the whole thing is just rumours and crap.

i think it was in that interview on kludge that he said he
has realeased stuff under diff names and know one will ever
know or have the slightest clue as to what other stuff he
has done...

which i can understand his way of thinking; if people think
i'm so great, will they know it's me if i do something under
a diff alias or will they unwittingly bash it in someway...

i just think he is such an inovator such a leader in his
respected art form that i hope he doesn't take all of this
secret info with him to the grave... =(

i dont really care, if he reveals it or not
if he done something good, im sure im going to hear about it

we all know what a "genius" he is, so his music should be
widely distributed.

think about if he releasedd a considerable amount of
material under misc. monikers, becuase the field is so
saturated with new electronic artists you don't think that
with out the tag of "RDJ" it would not get lost in the fray?

in reguards to RDJ/rephlex warp connection. I'm sure things
suck between mr. james and warp on the contract between the
two. I'm sure that in negotiations with the label, they
agreed someplace along the line to pickup and distribute
some of the acts...prolly to make rich release material or
something...but who really knows but the man and the suits

i also think 1 of 2 things. After the contract with warp is
done, he'll either carry on with the aphex or afx name,
hopefully releasing better kick ass music, or start
producing more or pickup in a different genre..just my 2
cents

I'm sure there is plenty of new Aphex to please our ears in
the future & if he does release under a new guise, I'm sure
one of us will figure it out and blow up a thread some day
on one of these message boards and boom we all know and
carry on...

Aphex talks so much shit in his interviews most of it should
just be taken as him pissing about with the media.

I've read tons of interviews with him. In one interview he
says he hates the Autechre boys and in the next one he did
after that he was talking about emailing wicked sounds to
Sean Booth.

Remember when he was never releasing another album? Do you
really think he is experimenting with human embreos?

At the end of the day he is a fucking good musician, one of
the best ever electronic artists, whether he releases on
Warp or Rephlex it is still him, whatever name he uses it
will still be him.

I can't understand why people are so eager to know whether
something is by him or not, at the end of the day it seems a
bit stupid to like a track more because you know it is an
RDJ one.

Just listen to what you feel...and be happy

ecnadniarb is very right.

But I thought Aphex's Warp contract was already finished.
The news item on Warp's website doesn't say the remix
compilation is coming out on Warp... They usually say if a
release is coming out on Warp, don't they?...

true man, that's probably the same reason he fucks with the
media like that...

would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?

Warp doesnt distribute Rephlex... they just sell Rephlex
because Warp is cool. They sell other cool record labels
also.... why wouldnt they sell Rephlex.?... you guys are
reading too much into all these vague quotes and rumours...
i'm sure they will still sell Rephlex as long as they
continue the ever cool Warpmart ( yes kids, you can EASILY
order from any country that can receive mail)

I'm sure there's a contract that Warp sells all Rephlex.
Because if you look on the artwork of Rephlex releases, they
say something along the lines of "online distribution:
www.warprecords.com"

I won't like music just because who it's by. Korn is a
perfect example. Their first 2 albums were good. The rest
suck. I just like RDJ's music. The only reason I'd want to
know if he made music and another name is because I would
probably like it, and buy it, instead of thinking someone
ripped off his style...

Ubik, the fact alone that the "sell" rephlex cd's means that
they have a distribution deal with with eachother. Thats
why u see efa stuff stamped on US releases, warp/sire, etc
etc....pick up a business 101 book :P

who cares, he's probably released a ton of shit between
windowlicker and drukqs...what was it 2-5 yrs altogether??
i highly doubt richie was sittin on his arse the whole time
doin nothing, he's a busy lil bastard

Warpmart is a online store, that handles it for Rephlex
because they are too lazy to set up their own... Rephlex is
in no way a sub-label of Warp, nor does Warp distribute
Rephlex around the world thru the normal distribution
channels (look at the back of a Rephlex Cd and it tells you
who does. It is not the same thing as Sire buying the
rights to Aphex for distribution in the USA. It is just
bizarre that people read so much into everything, and so
much conflict and bad blood and behind the scenes politics
and deals.... its a couple of cool indie labels....

and i disagree about RDJ being a busy bastard... he seems
awfully lazy to me, not in terms of making music, but the
music business part. seems to hate the music business side
of it, probably never gets around to most of the things he
thinks of starting...

SRD dist. rephlex UK
Caroline Dist. USA
JVC dist. Japan
EFA-germany

just checked, all rephlex releases i have say online is thru
warpmart, my bad. Just because he hates the 'business part'
of the deal probably doesn't mean that he would quit
writting material for himeslf though, which is what i meant
above :)

i don't feel like checking through the posts, but this is
what i know. rich along with tom (>[]) are leaving warp
soon. i believe do you know squarepusher is his contract
ender. basically, tom is sick of warp because he thinks
untalented artists are getting by on his earnings to warp.
so him and rich are going over to rephlex. warner brothers
won't let rich have aphex twin back, so he's going to use
afx from now on.

sire own the rights to anything under the name "aphex twin"
in the US, so if RDJ puts something out under that name on
any other label, it won't be released in america unless it's
distributed by sire. he desperately wants out of his sire
contract cos it's under a major label and he gets more money
off it putting it out independently, but a contract is a
contract.

rephlex is less known than warp so it needs warp to spread
its records and artists in the world...for me it's a problem
if afx leaves warp because it's much more hard to find
rephlex records while it's easy to find warp releases...warp
has already solved the problem, and autechre are going to
become the first act...most of the other warp acts including
brothomstates and mira calix owe something to their music

Good news for any wannabees with distribution problems. Put
your tune on you Napster-clone of choice - or, better, all
of them - and spread a rumour that it's by RDJ.

Whose is the MEN label?
