Wow this is weird. I have a summer job working with retards or mentally handicapped or whatever you call them. And a few blocks away there is another house where there is retarded kids. Now, on my way to work, I passed that house, and in a small plastic pool with no water, there sat a little girl wich had an Aphex grin! Just as on the Come To Daddy-cover. Her mother sat beside her, and if it wasn't for her, I would've been standing there, gazing, for ever. I guess the little girl had some kind of strange syndrom or something, but damn that was kinda scary. |

Well.. yeah, because it's used as an offensive term "hey you retard" etc, and these people are mentally handicapped and ill, "retard" was a cath-all term used years ago to describe people with these deficiencies in a less than caring way, and calling a disabled person a "retard" now just is't very nice... |

im a careworker - the term to use nowadays is 'adults with learning difficulties'... that covers downs, autism, stuff like that... incidentally, the lot i look after go mental for idm music - top of the pops/mtv rubbish they 'like' coz its 'music' that 'normal' people listen to, so they know its what society says you dance to... i put my tapes on at work, the all act like they're hearing a new language - that they understand better! afx - icbyd, the scratch perverts, matmos and pimmon seem to be their faves. |

Ok. I don't call them retards in norwegian. I just didn't know the right english word. I don't call them anything really. They are quite cool. But they listen to crappy dance music, and what we call "dansband", the worst thing that Sweden ever gave us, and that says a lot! |
