i think gak's bad ass...
i think gak's some rjd hdware creations. like some exsisting gear fucked with. gak was before rjd whent digital right? so unless he had a ton of fx boxes...which is pretty impractical if you know how to re-arange the wires in your own gear...
i wish there was an article about this project, so i can read up on it in more detail.

I still wonder what the Prodigy nicked from him.

What, did he say that the prodidgy knicked something from him?
I rememer ages ago thinking that one of the drum beats on caustic window comp. was like something off one of the prodigy albums.

Apparently, according to Greek Mythology, The Prodigy stole a TB-303 from Aphex when i riot broke out at an Essex club (most likely The Barn) when Aphex was playing there

By 'The Prodigy' it would probably be Liam, the crafty git, i reckon it would have been whilst Liam was making 'Experience' and all the other EP's, because he lists Aphex in the thanks list, is it for the inspiration...or is it for the 303?
To quote FatBoy Slim...'Everyone needs a 303'

That's okay, it happens to me all the time, Whilst the 303 was good for its time I don't see why everyone still loves them so much- You can get a far broader spectrum of sounds with more modern synths.

Yeah i know, but alot people just like having around for the warmth and retro feel, plus new synths cant always EXACTLY mimic the vintage sounds...

Ugh! Dude! a 303 is a 303! forget 'more modern synths' Yes you can make other sounds on more modern equip but to get a bad ass acid line burning thru your skull a 303 wont go wrong. I can certainly see why people still like it and I used one for my acid track 'Gatomon'

I know the re-birth 303 doesn't sound exactly like it (and that's licensed by roland!) but I'm sure within a couple of years we'll see soft synths with "detuning" knobs that perfectly mimic the fuzz you get when old synths heat up.
AT must have been really annoyed about having a 303 knicked, they were really expensive weren't they (I know they still are as they're collectible)?

the 303 is bad ass because of it's slides. I know bands that hook up modern synths into their 303 emulators. then the 303 into a decent sequenecer bacuase 16 step sequencing sux.

It wasn't The Barn where that happened...
It was in a converted cinema which got turned into a club for a few months...Prodigy played there the first night...and Aphex a few weeks later but yeah, there was a load of money trouble with getting paid & people ended up walking off with records, furniture, whatever they could lay their hands on....
so basically a weird night...I was off me face so didn't really know what was happening at the time...never imagined I'd be remembering it after all these years (we're talking 1992...)...
I've still got a flyer for the club somewhere....pity it all happened as the club didn't open again after that...it's a weatherspoons pub now...:(...
back on topic...sounds to me as if GAK uses a lot of Yamaha FM stuff..some of those basses are quite dry & digital sounding...DX100 perhaps??...

I want to get my paws on that second Caustic Window album, only 4 of those in the world... man. I can't really complain tho because Richard seems to be doing his best to re-release his older stuff. I'm happy to get anything by him and I always love to retire any of my home made bootlegs.
