ok ok, i have seen the fallowing of his movies:
Blue Velvet Fire Walk With Me Lost Highway Mulhullen Drive Also i have seen like all of the Twin Peaks episodes.
so out of the five, i don't know how i feel about him. i have to tell you Mulhullen Drive scared the fuck out of me, and i am not sure why... i really liked Blue Velvet. Twin Peaks and it's movie, Fire Walk With My, were fucking brilliant. but i thought he really lost his touch on Lost Highway! i really didn't think it was all that great....
any one here a fan.. or sorta like his stuff?

I think he is a really good director. You should see Erasurehead that's his best work. Watch Lost Highway again. I didn't like it the first time. It takes time to grow on ya.

Mulhuland, is like two seperate stories... both have the same two actresses in it. it is just a matter of figuring out the sypmbolism, and what is real or not.
I am having trouble locating EraserHead. one of the fucking movie stores 'round here have it,,,, cunts.

i thought mullholland drive was one story about actresses, but since that isn't explained, it appears as two different stories.
i won't ellaborte on the symbolism either.
blue velvet was alright, and i don't remeber hearts of fire or whatever that one was called, so it must not have been that good.
the two films i haven't sene of his are eraserhead, cuz no one has it around me either, and i've moved a fair bit!
and the one he did before mullholand drive.
lost highway adn mulholland drive kick ass! but i said that already!
i loved lost highway adn mulholland drive, i think they are his best films.
anyone ever see dune? pure shite w/ wicked costume design.

Story Explanations - My versions Could be construed as SPOILERS
Lost Highway - A man kills his wife over infidelities and general relationship unhappiness. This man is sent to prison for life. Rather than deal with the situation at hand, he recesses to a fantasy land in his mind. Abused children do a similar thing, called a Fugue, to escape from the abuse they are suffering. In this fantasy land, he fantasises about his relationship as he wanted it to be (why the women in both stories look the same). He is so f#cked up that even in a dream he can't control his negative impulses. His fantasy turns to sh#t, just like his real life relationship. That's my interpretation after many, many viewings.
Mulholland Drive - A failed Hollywood actress involved in an unhappy lesbian relationship daydreams of another life with a beautiful actress whom she has worked with in the past.
Hope that helps the curious.

Dune is fantastic it is a shame that they ran out of money and couldn't make it into a trilogy as originally intended.

golgiapp:straight on about lost highway. there's a bit more to the theme of MD though.
dune was supposed to be a trilogy?! that makes total sense why thye tried to shove so much info into 2.5 hours.
if i hadn't ofread the books i'd've been lost!. the gurrl that i watched it with the first time couldn't follow it at all and i don't blame her!
wicked costume design though!

Alejandro Jodorwosky (Sante Sangre, El Topo, The Holy Mountain) was originally supposed make Dune. He had set designs, costumes, a script and over a year of pre-production. But then his money man changed his mind and the whole thing fell through. He was going to have different musical acts do the scores to the various planets and areas. I know Pink Floyd was going to do one of them. You can see the set and costume designs in a documentary about Jodorwosky on the DVD for his film 'Fando and Lis'. It would have been very good.

mulholland drive isn't 2 separate stories, but it is one of his most confusing (and also one of his best, but not because of the confusion). lost highway is confusing as well but are you suggesting that movie sucks cos you didn't "get it", thanksomuch? no disrespect, but that's what i got out of your comment. as for eraserhead, that shit is out of print. to see it you have to spend a ton of time tracking it down in stores, wait for a lynch movie festival, pay over $30 to get the dvd from lynch's web site, or download it off morpheus like i did a year ago. it's divx and there's no loss in quality at all.

GolgiApp: that's how i always saw LH as well, i figured it was a fairly obvious realization for anyone who would be watching david lynch films in the first place. not sure if i agree with your MD conclusion, though i like it. that's not how i perceived it, but i've only seen it once so far. i'm going to pick up the dvd soon =)

GolgiApp, thanks man. i thought purhaps the main girl just led a double life..... like when you see the pic of the two girls (the same actress) with two guys and the kid asks if that is her in the pic and she says "that's me." and points to herself. i noticed the kid looked sorta scared. then when you go back later to the same pic when the dectives are in that house, you see the pic and the blonde is not there...

Twin Peaks Season 1 DVD is beautifully packaged, and definitely worth owning if you are a fan. I've heard Season 2 DVD is forthcoming, but I think the series really started to suck after they revealed Laura's killer. But up until then it was some of the best TV ever made.
