hated it at first but slowly got to liking it. Then i got
vol. 1. And every album was soon to follow.

I saw Windowlicker
First only thought about it as being weird, but creative. It
was different then anything else I knew.

then seeing afx in come to daddy on MTV. I wasn't sure what
to think for a while.

i had that same problem. his style was pretty consistent
until he made RDJ album, and then its hard to tell that the
same person made Ambient Works.

Chri5py..... But my names Chris so both count...

I fell over in HMV and I care landed in my lap so I bought
it....

i got interested in him because of Kid A
:-)
(hurray for thom).

And then one day while i was at the trainstation, i found
SAW 85-92 in the bargain basket of a musicstore there. The
rest, as they say, is history...

one day, 2 of my friends and I downloaded flim (what a great
song to start with) and milkman... and we steadily grew to
love it all.

There was a compilation album called In Order To Dance and
it had Didgeridoo on it about 1993 i think. Anyway if
anybody has In order to dance 4 or 5 i will furnish your
palm with credits for it.

Window stuff...

i found a comp tape made by a friend of my brother. that had
'4' and 'girl/boy song' on. then i got the RDJ album on the
strength of those (cos i loved the fast tempos and kiddy
keyboard sounds).

discovered he was a musician, so I thought I'd see what sort
of stuff he does...

I saw the music video for Come to Daddy, wanted to hear
more, but the store did not have the Come to Daddy cd at the
time, so I bought the RDJ instead. I was taken back by how
it was different at first, but discovered that I was really
into it.

embarassing story, kind of. i accidentally bought Ventolin
when i saw the "aphex" and thought that it was apex theory,
i had just gotten back from a stabbing westward concert
where they opened up for them. i showed it to my brother
and he said, "hey, that's not apex theory, but i much better
band. let me have a copy of that." and i listened to it and
gave it a go. ever since i've loved 'The Aphex Twin'. =D

Bought Kid A... read the reviews talking about the Aphex
influence... downloaded Windowlicker and a few I Care
Because You Do tracks from Napster (remember THAT?) after
finding a little review site about Aphex recommending
tracks... wish I could find that site again...

Anyway... that's it. Heard Alberto Balsalm and some others,
and I was hooked. This was Christmas 2000, I believe.

Went to see him live and it was fucking amazing. Definitely
one of the best nights I've been to.

After that I got a copy of Selected Ambient Works vol
I
and Surfing on Sine Waves from a technohead
friend.

That's how it all started.

yep. Me n' the boys caught that old aphex bug back in '98.
Things were a lot browner then, browner than nowadays.
Anyway, ma'sweetheart told me a story 'bout some Richard D
Famous CD or some such i dont really remember the boys name,
but i do remember the pie we had that day. Mmmmmm that was
damn fine pie, all brown and filled wi'apples. Momma dont
make pies like that no more. Not since she dead four year
ago. We burried her up on the old hill. She always liked
that hill. Least thats what we decided, seeing as she always
spent her time up there with uncle Jack and uncle Bob, and
sometimes Giles the watermelon farmer... and sometimes nanna
Gertrudes son Jimmy...
Yep.
