jedi chris, what are your favourite artists then?

Well at the moment, I like Plaid, Seefeel, µ-Ziq and Boards
of Canada mainly. I must say that my first electronica I
heard was indeed Aphex Twin, but the more and more I hear, I
don't think its the best by a long shot.

what is so important about what he likes?

he already said it
at the begining he came here for other reasons than music,
but with time and the help of nice people he has gotten into
some electronica and idm

he didnt really had to like it, but at the end he is liking
it, which is great.

what more do you want pantalaimon??

everyone thinks I don;t like IDM but I do !

I'm just not very informed on it and find it hard putting
across my opinions due to this, plus I don;t have the drive
to make me go research it

So I just listen and enjoy =oD

that's not what i think. i've never noticed any indication
of IDM-dislike in your posts.

In answer to your question, I like quite a broad range of
music, ranging from film soundtracks, rock, stuff from the
80s, classical, even some of the mainstream 'crud' that some
of you guys refer to on this board. I'll listen to most
music, whatevers around. I don't care much for hip-hop, and
I can't stand rap or thrash metal. But everything else is
fine.

Horsefactory: I exist because I do

Zephyr Twin: I will admit I do have some of the Star Wars
sound scores, but rarely do I play them.

Jazembo: An enemy? Hmmmm....only if you get on the wrong
side of me :P

do you differentiate between IDM and electronic music?
because it seems strange to say you like one in a thread
devoted to hating the other...

Forgive me, but I did too read the thread. (the first 2/3rds
of it) after reading:

"I find some of the ambient stuff easy to listen to......but
I wouldn't listen to it by choice. Some of the stuff though
I find painfull!"

you can maybe see why I had the impression that I did.

and for the record, he never differentiates between the two,
so pardon me for being confused but his opinion seems to
change throughout the course of the thread. =p

youd think with all the bleeps and pings in a star wars
movie, youd grow to love "idm" ;)

jk, but now seriously...
to hate electronic music is a pretty narrow view.

its a limitless artform that is having its boundaries pushed
daily.

cant get that from a rock 3-piece.

plus, all music is electronic nowadays, seeing as how all
analog source is electronically engineered and effected.

if you dont like things that sound DIGITAL, thats another
topic altogether.

once again, i didnt bother reading the whole thread... but
it seems all a bit silly to me.

and i have to ask (even thoguh youre a nice enough guy): why
come here?

Chris has got a pretty nice collection of electronic MP3s,
which surprised me when I browsed his files a while back.
Definitely a bona fide, card carrying member of the Darkside
now.
