I once blew out my right ear due to high volumes in my
headphones. I was completely deaf in it for over a week
before I got any hearing back. Now I have a permanant 10db
hearing loss in it. Which according to the doctor isn't
horrible cause I would probably never notice 10db but it's
bad for my age.

I bought some earplugs at a guitar store that have these
channels through the middle. You can still hear the music
fine but it just reduces the volume and I love them and use
them all the time.
