Is it as good (better?) as "let us play"?

I think their hexstatic collaboration "timber" is the best
thing they've done so far...

Hmm. Not too keen on this kind of music myself, but if you
are then you should check out a track by Aqualung called
"Strange and Beautiful". It's quite good for that kind of
music, I reckon you'd like it a lot Ironlung.

Personal Opinion(not meant to offend) ---

I hate coldplay, since their breakthrough single yellow Radio
fucking one have played their music incessentley and i hate
it, it's the blandest, most unimaginative, commercial shite
i've ever heard, every year theres a new melodic "britpop"
band that enjoy chart success-ie travis, doves, and it makes
my shit itch and my ears bleed (in a bad way) fuck coldplay
fuck starsailor fuck travis fuckemall.

Sorry -catharsis is good for the soul.

me too actually, they're miles better. i'd even enjoy a
discussion about the kold kut brothers more than coldplay!

I saw the film "ghost dad" and recognised that as the source
for the "everything's perfectly normal" in one of their
tracks. :)

ghost dad! oh man, bill cosby is the ultimate gentleman!

hey ceri, is "horse piano" REALLY only 10 seconds long?

Hey hands off doves. Their new album may be a real
disappointment but their first is pure class. Even the
Automator used one of their tracks on his new compilation!

that new coldplay single (can't remember it's name) has been
in my head ALL DAY LONG! Which isn't really a bad thing
since i quite like it. Never bought parachutes though...
maybe i should get that one first.

Compared to Idlewild, Embrace or Starsailor Coldplay are
fan-fuckin-tastic. I think Shiver is great.

"hey ceri, is "horse piano" REALLY only 10 seconds
long?"

Yep! I thought the gimmick of the sound of a horse
approaching over a piano would get tiring in a longer piece
:)

How have you got that track (I don't remember uploading it
to MP3.com)?

Idlewild used to be fucking awesome, hope is important is
storming, and then they went down a road called 'certain
stardom but your music has to be bland and shit from now on'
which i can't believe they have done.

only track by coldplay that i like is don't panic. otherwise
they just seem like watered down Bends era radiohead. I
might be wrong though, as i haven't heard this new album,
and radioheads debut was just watered down grunge.

offline hannibal from United Kingdom on 2002-07-25 18:19 [#00324358]

i really like shiver.

but the rest of coldplay's music bores me to sleep, then
keeps me awake like a monotonous ache.

idlewild are good. is the new album worth getting?

i tell you what, the flaming lips album is good.

hmm that probably made me sound a bit of a dickhead. i think
there are more innovative bands though :)

Mmmm, Coldplay. That kind of ''sensitive guy'' Brit Pop is a
guilty pleasure of mine. I like Travis slightly more,
though.

''Trouble'' is such a great song... ''Yellow'' is grating on
me a bit, now... overplayed. Too much of a good thing makes
it beome a not so good thing, as a wise man once said.

is a tremendous record.

I love Parachutes, and can't wait for this album... glad to
hear it's good!!

On a similar note, I heard the new Bush song the other day,
and it TOTALLY sounded Brit Poppy... I mean, like Coldplay,
and Travis, that kind of stuff... I thought it was kinda
lame as it looked like Bush were looking for the new "thing"
and released something like those two bands to try and
benefit from their popularity...

which is ironic cos they're british and have built their
career on trying to sound american.

yeah, that's the thing... they were trying to sound grunge
when the first came out, but now that grunge is WAY dead,
it's like they're trying to find the new thing... and brit
pop seems to be that maybe... it's lame to try and go with
the trends imo... do what you fucking want to do Bush!!! :)

"in a lonely place" off the crow 2 soundtrack
