other then those two songs on a level from 1 to dank, i'd
say its dank.

Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount...and yeah, it's my
favorite track as well. It really took some time before
Drukqs made some sense, but it's an awesome record...could
have fitted on one cd tho

wait taking control is the one thats like, im taking control
of the drum machine, right? if it is, yea thats the one im
not into, i guess the drum sounds are just kinda not what im
into, and that sample gets annoying. this is all my
opinion.

can do better than that!

I love Drukqs, but damn, I'm not rating each song... I'd put
drukqs in my Aphex Twin top three easily, and there is
really only one song I dislike, and that's gwarek 2... I
really like 54 Cymru Beats a lot... ummm, I'd give it a 9
out of 10...

taking control kicks ass because it's like an hymn to all
rythmbox pattern makers or something (and rich shows by the
same way that he is the king of patternmakers ;)

but whatever the fuck I says, I do think mt saint michel +
st michaels mount and Ziggomatic v17 is pure greatness !

i'd give drukqs an 8.5 or so out of 10. its my favorite
aphex cd but so many people rate things like 10\10. but
barely anything can get a 10/10 because its perfect pretty
much. people need to learn to not rate things so high.

well, maybe when they rate high, it IS perfect in their
opinion.

just a thought.

I havent heard all of the songs yet but from what I've
heard, I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

i mean when people rate like a lot of cds they have like all
9s and 10s. rating just a few very high is fine. but its
when they rate almost every cd very high.

Drukqs is the man. i won't rate each song, but 54 cymru
beats and bbdyonchord are my fave songs on the album.
especially the last part of 54 cymru beats, where it goes
all metallic sounding and the beat sort of piles onto
itself.

all i can say is if you like this album you must be easily
pleased

23 quid for a hit n miss album of bit & pieces which do not
go together and make for somewhat uncomfortable listening -
considering how long i waited, this could have been so much
better

don't believe the hype - 6 out of 10

the way I see it, there are still more EXCELLENT tracks on
this album than on pretty much every other electronic album
I've heard to date, but that's just my personal taste and
you probably wouldn't feel that way if you think a lot of it
is filler.

It's a strange album...I think of the tracks fondly, but
everytime I put one of the CD's on I get really bored,
really quickly, and end up putting something else on. Most
of them are good individual tracks, I just don't think they
go together well as an album (just my opinion).

personally I get tired when artists explore only one area of
music on an album.. sure it gives it a cohesive feel, but I
really appreciate the variation that druqks has on it.

You can have cohesion while exploring different sounds and
styles. Even Aphex said that Drukqs was never instended to
be a listen through album, you are just meant to take the
tracks you like off it and make your own album...I am too
lazy to do that though :D

Although someone once told me the only reason it was a
double album release is because Warp wanted it that way.

cohesive?

It's just not an enjoyable listen when played as a
album...it just sounds like a poorly arranged bunch of good
singles to me. I can only judge things on how I hear them
:D

I didn't mean that to sound snooty, I was sincerely
interested in what you think it takes.. to me druqks flows
pretty well... like does good flow in your opinion mean that
the end of one track is similar in tone/feeling to the start
of the next track? To me, a good flow is basically one good
song after another =p

offline ecnadniarb on 2004-02-19 00:43 [#01079762]

No, to me a good flow is an album that I enjoy listening to
from start to finish. It has nothing to do with how tracks
start and finish. For me MHTRTC is the perfect example of
an album, but it is very rare I just feel like listening to
a single track from the album...it is like the reverse of
Drukqs :D

mt st michel is a famous french church /town, incredible
place to spent a night if you can find a room (lots of
people know that place, ok) but what i found the other day
while looking at a map was that there is also, in cornwall,
a place call st michael moutain.

interesting title so

giving a note to every track: 9,45687(!!!???) is completely
