When you scratch, do you move the record or the plate? I
mean, isnt that what the slip mats are for?
My TT is too slow to regain speed when i scratch (i.e.
"Y.M.C.a-a-a-a-aaaaA!) *hehe*

explain how to scratch.

does it make any difference? If the plate moves the record
moves anyway doesn't it? I think it's personal prefrence

if the plate moves, the turntable has to be able to regain
speed fast, but if it's only the record, the plate still
turns while scratching

when you have a slipmat, you can hold the record still while
the plate is going round... so you move the record.

but what i have heard is that the Panasonic 1210 has a
killer speed-regain so it's easyer to get the right sounds

yeah when you scratch, you press the record down a bit which
slows/stops the plate so you need fast turntable.

i really don't know much of turntables so don't blame me if
i said something wrong...

i hope your not using a regular hi-fi turntable for
scratching junktion! no good for records/needle, and it
doesn't work too well for scrathing anyway...

yeah, i mean your hands on the record not the plate...

the record needs to spin, not the plate, thats what fucks
the motor up in the turntable.
The slipmat is used so when your finger stops the record the
plate still spins, but when you let the record go, the
slipmat grabs the record again.
The trick is being able to release the record properly, with
some forward motion, if you just let go of the record it
comes to a near complete stop, so you have to have some
forward motion with your release.
