H.A.B. discovery!!!

A couple of days ago I downloaded Hagable Auto Bulb ep 1+2.
Strangely enough I found out that the previous version I had
downloaded, countained jitters and high noise, hell some of
the tracks was even recorded in the wrong tempo. Then I
searched for it on Soulseek and found a complet version in
320Kbps Mp3. Now why would you make a 320kbps copy of an
vinyl only release? yeah sure if you had like the best
record-player in the world.
And if that isnt strange enough I discovered that every
track was ending with a bit of the next track (like if it
was recorded directly from vinyl, and later cut up). But why
leave the a bit of next track in the end? I didnt think of
it much until I discovered that between Wabby Legs (H.A.B.
EP1 track 6) and had a bit of Everyday (H.A.B. EP2 track 1).
If this was a vinyl rip, that couldnt have been done.
then I found out, while cutting the small bits away from the
mp3, that there was no noise at all in that recording, wich
leaves me with this conclusion: the mp3-rip is a
studio-rip!

comments?

I found similair strange things the other day. I only
realised when I recorded my CD of it to tape and put
Everyday and Arched maid several tracks apart. I was driving
home from work when I noticed it.

It may be worth converting the 320kbps MP3 to wav and having
a look v. close up at the wave image...

mmm...maybe...320kbps vers of HAB ain't that rare on SS,
I've dled a few myself...

Could've been done from a DAT someone made of their Vinyl
copy...I know a few people do this (tape their precious
virgin vinyl onto DAT for archive purposes)...

Also, a lot of Vinyl rips get declicked/denoised in
Soundforge or whatever...

But yeah, you could be right....

(but then again, I hear rumours of a HAB reissue on CD so if
we're lucky that could be the source......)...

Are there any clues in the MP3 ID fields?...

I'll have to take a copy of the wav with me next time I go
to my gf's grandad's house. His hobby is cleaning up old
jazz vinyl to wavs and he'd be able to tell.

the ID3 have been changed many times me thinks

But it's just so strange...at first i thought it was my
winamp fucking up (u know...strange things can happen when a
slow PC plays 320kbps *hehe*) ..but after listening to the
one at a time i realized that they must be some high-class
rip...

that wouldnt have been a problem if it werent for this
story:
Me and me g/f was visiting my mom, and before leaving I
turned on my slsk and Grokster so I could finish some
downloading. Well, hours went by and we came home. Then I
discorvered my ISP had cut my connection bcuz i had used my
5GB maximum transfer for this month. DAMN! ...i had to pay
extra to get 500megs more this month....

no hassles, mate....

I'll have a look thru the 320kbps HABs I've got and see if
perhaps they are the same....

Maid (??)

Hmm. It's really not hard to do a very good rip of the HABs
from the vinyl and remove the surface noise, then record to
CDR. I've done it with my own copies and they sound great.
The dodgyness of that 320k rip is very likely to have been
caused by re-ripping from a CDR made from a vinyl rip. I've
heard those 320k rips and they sound just like they've been
ripped from a CDR with the track separations in the wrong
place.

The last on HAB2 of whichever song it is, but the tempo is
way wrong cause all the songs are played at different
tempos, though what I just means nothing really, but oh
well...
