hey, i know this is probably common knowledge to all of you hardcore fans, but i am just a rookie in the aphex twin world
a quick question, does anyone know what song is being sampled in the beginning of the Window Licker video?
it's the one that the black guy puts in the car stereo about 1 min. into it
if anyone could lemme know that'd be much appreciated take care -simon

It's just a remix of Windowlicker. With Rich scratching over the bass to the song. But you can't get a full length version of it anywhere.

i also have some questions about windowlicker. once there is a female voice heard, saying something (at 2.43 - in french?)... what does she say?
& yesterday i listened to windowlicker and then to radiohead's kid a... has anyone noticed that one voice in windowlicker sounds very much like thom yorke's in idioteque? (windowlicker 1.58, 2.09, idioteque 3.19). it almost sounds if aphex would take the piss out of radiohead's kid a... but, well, windowlicker came first.
kid a and idioteque (and treefinger) are very much like aphex twin... it almost sounds like an influence/imitation - any comments? i also have another clue that this is right. margaret fiedler of Laika said in an interview that thom yorke (she is befriended to him) listened to warp albums, and was very much influenced by those albums in doing kid a (and amnesiac)... don't get me wrong, i like kid a, but before i had listened to it, i read a whole bunch of reviews of kid a, that it's so new and experimental, but while listening to it, i found it like a tame version of aphex twin, and not very experimental or new at all...
and by the way, laika's good looking blues is great, check it out!

The melody for ideoteque is f'kin amazing. I always thought it was a little Twinish...but I thought that was just the reason that I liked it, not that there was any imitation, or even influence on either Radioheads or RDJ's part. I was never really into radiohead but an old girlfriend of mine was like: you're going to love this song, and played my ideoteque and I was really impressed. The only thing was I didn't care to much about the vocals...but thats how I always am, I would have been perfectly happy listening to different variations on that beat for 4 minutes. But I'm usually that way, I guess that's why im so into IDM...
Also, that one minute of RDJ scratching over the Windowlicker baseline is awesome! I LOVE the way that sounds, I'm going to sample that and loop it just to play on a site or something. I just can't not close my eyes and bob my head up and down as I hear it. Does anyone else like this as much as I do?

}{4N47º5 [Xanatos]: Yes I agree with you. I believe that, that song you are talking about is damn sweet, I myself own all his videos on VHS and they are great. Windowlicker is so strange, and that song is awsome, what about the one at the end, when the credits roll? You ever seen that, its just as good as the one your talking about, seriously.

yeah, idioteque is great, but i also don't care that much for thom yorke's vocals. i guess i also like it because it's aphex-like. who is singing the vocals in windowlicker? aphex himself like in come to daddy?
listening to kid a always makes me think of aphex' mysterious uncredited songs, and also that radiohead and thom yorke could be an invention of aphex twin... (come to daddy, kid a!) and part of the richard d. james' conspiracy... well, just kiddin'...

Yeah it is.. its in French. Thast exactly what the voice says In windowlicker.
The scratching part? I thought that was just AFX, I doubt it was Luke Vibert.

nah REFLEX, think aboot it - aphex has never had scratchin' in any of his songs. its a lot more of a luke vibert thing (he's on ninjatune, hint hint). apparently he did do it - luke and rich are mates from cornwall

YeaH I know about him and AFX all too well. It makes sense, but Id only believe it if I saw it written somewhere credible. I dunno.... it sounds like it could be true.

This is getting trainspotter like, but i belive Richard does scratch, because, the guy who released his first lp, said that he (richard) was only exited about it because he could then scratch his own music. and thats a fact.
so yeah i think its him (Richard).

Sorry to dig up old topics and that, but I just thought it would spare on making a new one.....
Can someone upload this VERY tiny mp3 of the start of the vid? i ahven't heard it and from what I've read it sounds rather good. Just somewhere temporary, geocities or something, so I can hear it?

I think you can get this on the japenese version of WL.... it's called Widowlicker (End Roll version)....It should be on Soulseek (can't check myself at moment)...
I'm pretty sure it was done by Luke Vibert...I think AFX or CC said about it in an interview around WL release time....
It's wicked anyway...great little track...soooo needs a longer version...
