i know that mostly Djs play techno and blah... but are there any anywhere that play IDM stuff? not to dance to... just to listen?
i know there isnt any places like that in the US... but in England perhaps? where there is a larger IDM audience?
i would like to be an IDM dj just for fun

If you have the vinyl then go for it, I can think of worse things for you to do in your spare time. If you have friends with house parties you can really mess with the E heads with Aphex Twin. Collecting the vinyl is great also but a risk to carry around at times.

Wow, I guess I just really got you down. Decks can be cheap, just go for a very basic set to start like Numark then build up, Vinyl is so much better then CD too and you can really feel the music living.

Hmm, I’m not sure. Most of the stuff I mix is so varied you cant really put an average price on. If you go on Ebay and type Aphex Twin in you can get an idea of second hand IDM value. www.warprecords.com/mart has some fantastic stuff too, Just scan thru the labels.

Most good IDM is only on Vinyl, if you go for the real raw tracks no one has heard before you will find another world of great music. When you get into this you learn how to balance vinyl and CDs choosing the correct method to purchase each. Normally you find you buy more and more vinyl because you simply cant get it on CD.
