Wizard-hype...

The number of Wizards on this board has increased much over
the last couple of months. That leaves us with to things;
1. Aphex is getting mainstreamed and more acceptable.
2. Phobez will probly make higher status on xltronic; like
"Superman" or "Monster"
(if there will be status-title at all).

..comments?

the status-thingie will be more dynamic in xltronic to
better reflect peoples behaviour... the old system will be
replaced, in other words.

hmm..about Aphex being mainstream here..our poor knockoff
version of MTV m2(late nite mainstream music vids) programs
promo is using a segment off Windowlicker...kinda
spooky...this is a show with Britney Spears and boybands
galore..

mainstream...or does it?

if it becomes mainstream then a bunch of crap artists will
spring up who think they can do idm....so far the genre is
'unpolluted' by these people, and id like to keep it that
way

You mean like Chemical Brothers trying to do the naff toy
piano/ DrukQs rip off on the new album?

i bet some friggen idiot will screw it all up by blending
rap or some crap with idm and sony pushes it like crazy
making it ultra popular.... damn that craps me

yeah...but it isnt all bad...

I mean; we are a lot of new artist here on this board, and
If we really wanted to get our stuff out to the public, and
in the stores, we had to make a new genre or style. And we
will plobly end up doing it anyway...

offline Bob Mcbob on 2002-06-28 13:06 [#00288284]

rap might not be too bad.....

didn't like the kid acne "rap dracula" track i heard AT ALL.
req is fantastic tho, however i haven't heard anything with
rapping in his songs?

APC are a fantastic blend of hip-hop and IDM. as is my man
cex (www.rjyan.com), especially his forthcoming albums.

-----

i think xltronic's status system should go by quality of
posts, not intellectual quality cos that would require
someone to manually assign points, but post length. you
know, showing thought instead of just typing "yes" or "i
agree" etc.

Muchmusic always used to use a clip from Come on My Selector
by Squarepusher, and I had no idea who it was at the time...

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-07-01 04:29 [#00291105]

Really? When did they use that clip, for what
ad/commercial?

And also the day electronica becomes totally mainstream is
the day I DREAD.

It will all be ATC and DJ Sammy shit. . . god I can't stand
the thought of it.

All the good artists will be replaced with Sash and Darude
ripoffs, while all the good dj's will be replaced with
MCMario and Chris Sheppard ripoffs.

it was just one of those station identification ads... you
know the ones where they have all these clips jumbled
together... well one clip they used to run had a sample from
Come on My Selector...

it's not a recent ad...
