what do you guys use, i use C and just started programing
and am not too experienced in the skill. my dad said i
should start now because i'm only 13 and by the time i need
to get a good job this skill could help me get a cool job.

well, C is pretty hard to start off with, but it beats most
of the other languages. if i was you, i would focus more on
creating applications for the web. check out php/perl and
their DB-connectivities.

no c and c++ are programming languages that you can program
games and shit with.

php is pretty easy to learn though i do not have much
experience.
im using c++ very much, there are really great libraries
out there; with Qt for example (www.trolltech.com) you can
do widget-applications in a second. just tell him where to
put the buttons and done.
i mostly use it for numerical mathematics.

i have a huge book that teaches you a lot, i'm not that far
into it and i'm learning about float variables.

if you've learned one language you can easily switch to
another. c is good to start with (for object orientet
programming c++, but this really would be too much to start
with), imo since it contains all the basic concepts. the
only problem is the syntax, programs from more advanced
programmers are hard to read, cause there are a lot of
elegant tricks.
don't spend too much time on the details, i learned the
basics from a 100 pages book. the other source is a .pdf
when i got to look something up

I use QBASIC! :)
I'd like to learn C/C++ though.

I'd stay away from C++, go learn Java instead.

C was the first "real" language I learned, but I wouldn't
recommend it as a first language. You'll probably be exposed
to it again if you go for a Computer Science degree. But
since you've already started at C, go for it, but also check
out an object-oriented language as well.

i heard java is pretty similar to c++ but i got no
experience at all with java.
i like c++ for the overloading of operators and all that
freaky stuff

C++ is probably my least favorite language of those I've had
to use.

Although you're practically guaranteed a decent job if
you're very good at it. :-P
