good soft synth

I'm more of a hardware guy, and I figured I'd give soft
synthesis a shot. can anyone recommend a good, preferably
free soft synth that has lots of quick realtime control,
possibly with a built in sequencer? Rebirth comes to mind,
but that's just a little too limited...

i can only find the demo versions of absynth on kazaa,,, has
anyone found the non-demo version on kazaa, or any other
filesharing network?

Get FM7, if youve got a MIDI controller with 61 keys or
more, you can plug it into FM7 and it will control the
software through the synth.

are these all VST? I don't have a controller hooked up to
this computer (no interface, and it's in my parents'
kitchen)

meh, it's alright. everyone's gone most of the time anyways,
only problem is that sometimes I have to compete w/ my
brother for it. on the bright side, it encourages me to use
the computer less, which is very healthy compared to my
previous tendencies.

that...

yeah, i love absynth,,, but i've only got the demo,,, its
too expensive for me to buy,,, but it is quite an amazing s.
synth. in my opinion it's the only way to go if you want to
create your own pads,,, and you can sequence in it too,,,
and the sound is pretty fantastic for a soft synth. the
setup is kinda tricky,,, lots of windows and things to mess
with before you get the hang of it,,, but it's niiiiice! :)

if you're interested, license, download the demo and try it
out.

the absynth can be used as a vst or a stand-alone.
