kraftwerk started this whole thing in the mid 70´s... since then lots of things have happened... but which do you think were the best years and why?
maybe the early ninetees?

i confess i don't know kraftwerk all that well, but a lot of the early nineties stuff owes a lot to kraftwerk, ie autechre, afx
now with confield and gantz graf, ae are finally shedding their skin and coming with something entirely new, imho. hopefully others will follow.
so i guess i like the 21st century bestest ;)

1992 is a special year, coz Warp launched their Artificial Inteligence series. The three following years was very rich when it comes to electronica: The whole scene had this positive, progressive vibe about it... God, I'm old!

I remeber Cascade by FSOL as a particularly mindblowing historical electronica-moment. That was in '93.

' 92 was a very important year for British techno. At that time it received more attention from the underground scene. "The philosophy of sound and machine"(ART/Rephlex) was the very first British techno compilation. It collect early tracks from Aphex Twin, Black Dog(Plaid), B12, Kirk Degiorgio...
Also the Artificial intelligence serie was set up by Warp at that time.

I kinda like 2001, all my favorite albums were released. Drukqs, Confield, Go Plastic, Geogaddi, Clarence Park, I'm sure I'm forgetting some more... pretty damned great year.

1995 - 1998
Think about it from the big three I think it was the best of their work:
ICBYD and Richard D. James Album Chiastic Slide and LP5 Feed Me Weird Things and Hard Normal Daddy
Other landmark albums from the same period: - More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art (Carl Craig) - Substrata (Biosphere) - Soup (Bola) - Music Has The Right To Children (BoC)
And I'm sure there are many more I've forgotten to mention.

1974
......for then the Keyfumbler was born.
Sonn after that he started hearing the sounds he heard in the womb and they were good. A few years rolled by where his brain started to become cluttered with unnessary noise spat out in between the static of radio waves and from the television which bombarded him which much silliness. Then he heard Squarepusher and AFX and returned to the womb. Now his own latent sounds are trickling through and maybe others will return through him........
.......*jesus h tap-dancing christ!*

2 disc releases came from 3 great different artists last year: Aphex Twin, Orbital, and BT.
Not to mention my favourite dj mix ever was also released last year: Global Undeground 18, John Digweed in Los Angeles!!!
Plus Crystal Method released their latest, Tweekend, which admittedly wasn't as good as their first Vegas but was still good.
