Good one Deathsmith! I'm so sick and tired of people saying
how electronic artist's are talentless and how easy it is to
make electronic music.

:-D

Yes I am sick of people like that too.

Here's my ignorant prep quite of the day:

"Techno? I can make that shit on my computer!"

and here's another quote from my older sister, who is an
infamous electronica hater. "Electronic music isn't
music."

People like that, I wonder. . . what the fuck do they expect
to hear at a club? What do they expect the dj's to be
spinning? Rock music, pop music? Electronica is where it's
at, and anyone who would besmirch it obviously hasn't ever
been to a club and tried dancing to Limp Bizkit.

And anyone who thinks all electronica is "thump-thump-thump"
bass with no melody or sophistication obviously has not been
exposed to the beauty of IDM.

It always amuses me when people say that anyone with a
computer can make techno. I mean it is true, but making good
techno is a totally different thing. Anyone can strum a
guitar, but talent is needed to turn that strumming into a
good piece of music.

My fav quote that I so want badly on a shirt....and you may
have seen me say this before:

"IT'S NOT TECHNO"

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-21 18:32 [#00278671]
Points: 7327 Status: Addict

I made that quote myself. It's copywrite Amonbrune 2002

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-21 18:43 [#00278691]
Points: 1027 Status: Regular

CopyRIGHT, me thinks. . . and I confess that I don't
understand what the point of having that on your shirt is!!
Also, why use the word "techno"? I try to refrain from
using that word, because it usually indicates that one does
not know shit about electronica, because if you look at all
the people who really DON'T know shit about electronica,
they call all of it (trance, house, progressive house, deep
house, acid, acid house, ambient, acid jazz, chillout, hard
house, progressive trance, IDM, drum and bass, drill and
bass, big-beat, break-beat, etc.) "techno" and that word
SERIOUSLY is starting to get on my nerves.

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-21 18:46 [#00278702]
Points: 7327 Status: Addict

Look again what I said:

"It's not techno"

It's an anti pop shirt for those who think all electronic
music is "techno". I tell people about say Autechre or any
thing and they go "so is it like techno" and im like NO ITS
NOT TECHNO!! for pete's sake...it gets on my nerves. so a
shirt that says 'its not techno' would be cool. would make
people think... "k, gee...if its not techno ...what is it
then?"

DING DING DING!! WE HAVE A WINNER!

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-21 18:47 [#00278703]

Ah!!!! ok I see, thanks Amonbrune. . .

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-21 18:48 [#00278705]

But I'm not exactly sure everyone's that clever, Amonbrune.
And I don't think passerbys in the mall would actually give
it that much thought, so they would never read that
conclusion. Oh well, as long as you know what it means,
it's all good, I guess.
