hurt.

I thought it was immensely improved over the last two days.

although it is a little dead today

On a good day i get to post on 4-5 topics simultaneously and
my fingers almost catch fire from all the typing.

Also I miss porn/ sexual depravity. Jonesy's gone to
Cardiff, Giginger and Thelonius punk and Junktion seem to
be out all the time, argh...

.....apart from all the really dull and pointless
discussions on the ethics of filesharing.

I don't think anyone managed to change the opinion of anyone
else. It seems a pointless topic of conversation.

Princo: thanx, mate

Manicminer: you backstabber, those filesharing threads were
exactly what I meant when I spoke of improvement. I'm not
saying it "changed" anything but was a very useful exchange
of opinions (god, my vocabulary is truly horrendous), at
least for me. It sure as hell beats all those trainspotter
threads about RDJ's underwear, astrobotnia's sexual
orientation and the theory that sean and rob both share mira
calix in a DP setting.

I agree, the Mp3 discussion was topical, entertaining and
needed to be hilighted.

ignored...

I agree. The mp3-issue is quite hot nowadays and needs to be
discussed. I think the mature-level was on a descent level.
This discussion has not come to an end yet tho...

Well, if it was someone else impersonating Mr Devine - then
he's a pathetic loser.

If it really was mr Devine himeself, then I'm surprised
about his behaviour. Seems like a wanker to me.

them mp3 hating trolls certainly were pissed off at us
though, they werent really listening to us most of the time.

True, but it was still a rather civilised debate most of the
time. Surprisingly, with me around.

yeah it was mostly people listening only to those who were
on their side. they weren't convincing, though.

Well, for my part, i tried to listen. But those people kept
mixing business and music as if those were interchangeable.

i understood his point, and i was a tad sympathetic, but it
seemed he didn't want us to respect him, but he wanted to
piss us of/feel guilty or something.

all that shit about him being poor because of use
downloading mp3s.... what a loon!

yeah, what made me laugh the most was his insisting that
musicians need to work full time to produce quality music:
sounds like a stupid capitalist theory to me. Non-applicable
to art, of course. I mean, if you are devoted, you will do
it in your freee time, forsaking all other activities...

offline manicminer from Paris (France) on 2002-06-20 14:28 [#00276640]

OK OK OK chaps!

I'm sorry, maybe it did need to be discussed. I just didn't
enjoy reading the discussion, that's all. It seemed to go
on for ages and people kept repeating what had already been
said.

i cant work on music fulltime, making music for me is an
emotion regurgitation. i need to be able to pop in for a
tweak now and then, full time would make it less fun.

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-06-20 14:32 [#00276645]

Manicminer: fair enough, and you're right, we kept repeating
ourselves all the time.

Princo: yes, I hear that, having to spend 8 or more hours a
day doing music can be as fucked as having to really work
and it doesn't guarantee good music.

There are too many topics familiar with each other... they
all come down to the same thing...
I'm talking about mp3 search engine topics and stuff like
that

there were 3-4 topics. One of them was called Stop!!!

Another was File sharing - the truth. They were all the
same, more or less with same people exchanging arguments.

you've probably got this planned for xltronic but I can't
help feeling a chat facility would help no end with Topic
Quality...

A lot of the crappy topics are people just chatting about
nothing cause they are bored; this mb is good for that as
it's nice and quick to use which kinda encourages a chatty
style...

I don't wanna see the chatty friendly feeling go from the mb
but some of it would be better placed in a chatroom...

Also..Would be real cool if...

a)it works without any additional software
b)accept connection from anywhere (like behind Firewalls and
NATs)...
c)gotta be a member here to chat...
