don't you think that in most idm albums all the tracks sounds a bit the same?
some don't, like ICBYD, and that's a very good thing, but most of them... especially geogaddi (some tracks, especially the short ones, are nice but just filler!)...
do you think the albums should be more varied? squarepusher for example, all his albums (well, at least the ones i know :)) have a quite similar feeling but there are some "breaking" tracks (i.e. drunken style or chin hippy)...

I think that's down to style, actually. If you compare for example confield to any punk or blues album you will see it is infinitely more varied.

monochromatic isn't always black & white... old monochromatic computers (which we used in college) had their pixels lit orange or green or white...

I have thought to people that have never heard IDM it would all sound the same. We have all heard quotes of "noise" describing some IDM. I find that it is much more varied than more common music.
I honestly am amazed sometimes at the diversity in the music while still holding to the to genre.

it depends, i think this works for autechre for example — you appreciate the diversity more when you're used to listening to it, when it has already grown on you, as it's an acquired taste...
...but geogaddi?
