depression is 'à la mode' right now, it's almost in to have
a little depression.

i met very few people who actually had a REAL depression,
meaning for more than a couple of months.

people to often feel sad for a little while, which is very
normal, and right away, they want to get pills because
theyre convinced to have a depression...

I'm not ''clinically'' depressed, but I am a very unhappy,
dark indiviual. I think too much... that can never be a good
thing.

And this is thinking/intelligent music... so it goes with
the territory.

ive been pretty good, since goin on the zoloft, over a year
ago.

but winter is the worst

when i first knew i was depressed, id come home from school,
go to my room and cry. for no real reason. everything was
just horrible. but in real life everything was fine.

my mom dragged my ass to a doc, and got me on zoloft
(depression runs heavily in my family, so she recognized
it).

anyways... yeah.

im alot better, but sometimes i get my moments...

Depression can be genetic.

I know a mate who's family line has manic depressants in it,
and he used to be on various chemicals.

I look like a goth sometimes, what with my very black hair
and VERY light skin, and I'm a gloomy morbid bastard with
Goth-y tendencies, but I'm not one of those over the top
''I'm so different because I dress like all the other
Goths'' Goths.

I'm just depressed, and it's going to take a lot more than a
fucking GIRL to fix this... I envy people who just need a
bitch to make them content.

like anyone else but what separates that from depression?

id say, if you cry for no reason, if alls you think is bad
thoughts about the world and yourself, and nothing really
makes you happy, you sleep alot, eat little... then id say
there is a good chance you have depression.

and it needs to be in periods longer then like a month or
2.

unless you have manic depression... and then its a different
story. with manic depression you have you lows... and boy
are they low, you seriously want to kill yourselve, but them
you have highs, and you are the happiest most energetic
person alive

and it goes back and forth

if you have any doubts... go see someone. its hard i know...
my mom had to practically drag me to the doctor. i just
didnt want to deal with it. like whats the point. but luckly
my mom is one tough cookie. :)

so even if ur like "whats the point" now....
u would not regret going to a doctor?
it actually changes ur mind?

cus now i dont see how i could change..
everyones like: "get motivated, stupid!"

...which really does not help
but i dont really want to try to be motivated

so anyways... what im saying is: are you saying that:
thats how u felt and it changed?

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-06-19 23:54 [#00275807]

the difference from what i was before i was on meds and how
i am now is like night and day.

sure, im still a pesimist and kinda antisocial etc... but
not to the point where it cripples me, and i feel like it
can only get worse and worse.

i used to not hang out with my friends when theyd call, and
id make up some excuse, cause really i just was so depressed
alls i wanted to do was stay in my room, and sleep/cry

i wouldnt even laugh at my favorite tv shows

hm.....

well, thanks

this actually has been helpful... since nobody knows
anything about depression... they dont even seem to know it
exists
i cant really talk about it w/ my friends.... they'd
probably call me 'gay' and thats that

but if the difference is as geat as u say.... then ill
definitely consider it more seriously

yes, its very hard.

the biggest step, is goin to the doctor.

and its a big step. you want to put it off. you want to
forget about it.

my mom schedualed the apointment for me, so i was lucky in
that sense.

if you dont have someone doin it... i suggest this..

just go get the phone book, and put it in an open spot...

thats it for now... just go get out the phone book.

put it on your bed or something.

somewhere that you cant ignore.

after that... you gotta open to the pyshiatrist page

then, finally, call and make an appointment.

but man, if you are depressed, you owe it to yourself to try
and fix it

I'm generally quite happy now, due to a lot of things-
music, friends, but in the past i've been quite down, but i
feel like that is something i've came past..it's always
possible to feel little reminders and similiar feelings from
time to time, and i have, but i don't see it coming on as
extreme as that again
