i saw that he is one of mr Meho's favourite artists- i ve
been trying to chceck his stuff for ages but i ve never
started doing this really. what is a good starting point? i
ve heard that his "naked city" project is totally wicked.

I am here, I am here (duty called and I had to fly but I'm
back now), yeah, Naked City is a good starting point for
people coming from metal/ hardcore/ punk/ industrial side of
things, that's how I got into Zorn universe, but be sure to
get their "Torture Garden" album or their selftitled debut
for a great treat of manic cut-up
jazz/thrash/country/insanity/punkl/reggae/improv stuff.
Their later albums are more abstract, though I strongly
recommend "Absinthe" for the illest horror ambiences this
side of Coil. The rest of Zorn's output is totally
inexplicable as he covers so much ground that it's
impossible to put it in one sentence, or even to see
connections. I'll look up your profile and if you have the
email address in there I'll mail you a John Zorn FAQ. There
are also a couple of decent sites on Zorn but I seem to have
forgotten the URL's but a yahoo search should be able to
come up with it. I recommend his label's homepage
www.tzadik.com for a quick view of a lot of his activities
and there are some soundbytes there for you to hear. His
jazz band Masada could appeal to you as it is based on
mixing NYC cooljazz and newthing with jewish klezmer, and
you, polish people should be familiar with klezmer, I think.

It's funny that you bring up John Zorn, because I was just
talking about a Japanese band called the Ruins a few posts
back, and when they first started out, they collaborated
with John on a few things. Some interesting tracks came out
of that.

japanese underground scene. Can I ask you guys to keep this
thread up here until steamtank comes online again, as I'm
going home now?
