Even though thier NEWEST album kinda blew...Vulgar Display
of Power and Far Beyond Driven will never be able to be
touched....These guys kick ALL asses of that NEW shitty rock
they play on the radio.....

Listening to "this love" right now, man this song gives me
goosebumps...I LOVE it...the louder the better....

Anyone else a fan?

I actually hated them all the way through 90s as I was more
into death/ black metal and grindcore, so Pantera's macho
posturing (in music as well as in other areas) really put me
off. not to mention Phil's problematic character. But I know
what you mean anyway: their sound IS powerful. They did set
a templete for a lot of nu-metal out there but are still way
better than any of the new guys.

when i was a bit metalheadish. fantastic band- but as you
said their newest stuff is shittie...

My g/f's sister was heavily into Pantera until recently and
she thought Phil was sooo hot so I had no option but to hate
him and the whole band... Hehe, well, I love certain songs:
Strength beyond strength, Shedding skin. Use my third arm...
even Fucking hostile... even some stuff off Great southern
trendkill... But I was always more into more amorphous stuff
like Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel...

Wait... Oh.
All I know about Pantera is that a large amount of their
fanbase seem to enjoy working in autoshops and smoking
marlboros.

Oh man, this song REALLY moves me.....

Hell man, the COVER of "Vulgar..." is one of a kind...SO
powerful

Yeah, craddle of filth are kind of mainstream wannabe black
metal: I like other stuff like Marduk, Mayhem, Dark Funeral
and Emperor (talking about problematic character's, these
last guys have spent a lot of time in prisons for burning
churches, killing homosexuals, which i, of course don't
approve of, but their music is a kickass combination of
kitsch and good pummeling).

Yeah, that fucker got $300 so Phil could punch him about 20
times. Have you seen their DVD, I 've read some reviews
where it says they give people money to see them eat garbage
and stuff. I kinda like that: show to people how fucked
people are when they see a buck waved in front of their
face.

Iron: 12 times? Man, you are a fan. I haven't seen any band
12 times in my life, even the ones from my hometown.

Steamtank: yeah, I have that one, though I can't remember
the title. The story of norwegian black metal in the 90s is
a long soap-opera filled with murders and general insanity.
But some of the music really kicks ass.

And, yes, I like Sepultura very much, even though, from
Roots on, their stuff became generic, but Morbid Visions,
Beneath the remains, arise and even Chaos AD are classics!!!

and, if we are to do any genre-spotting and name dropping,
(which i find fun but ultimately insignificant), Pantera is
neither thrash: in the beginning of the 90s they called
their stuff power-groove

I used to love them back in the day. unfortunately I've sold
my CDs so can't revisit those days.

Anbselmo was a bit of a dick though. Didn't he say some
racist shit about hip hop; how white kids are being
disrespected by the hip hop artists whose music they buy?

I saw them about 8 years ago and Phil said to the crowd:
"Anyone got something to smoke?" Someone gave him some weed
and he smoked it while singing Planet Caravan like:I'm sooo
badass. Everyone was like: ooooh, naughty, naughty. It was
so sad and juvenile.

Anyone dig Poison Idea?
