This one starts out VERY dark and heavy. . . and gets
seriously fucked up at 1:30. I didn't like that trippiness
at first, but it just gets too intense by 3:00 to not enjoy.
VERY cool.

thanks, I made a lot of samples with my microphone: drumming
with my hands on my computer...
I made one of the beats with my mouth.
and some other weird things.
Then I put a lot of effects to those samples and then I
started making the song...

i think a nice big phat kik in V.9 would do wonders.
the jump into the drums threw me a bit.
nice track though!

Hmm maybe I should buy a microphone. . . is it easy to
record and save the files to WAV format to use in programs
like Fruity Loops?

hehe you would be surprised If you heard what I use for my
music...
A crappy 5 dollar worth microphone
A crappy wave editor anno the year zero if you know what I
mean
And fruity loops
that's all

and export as a wav or aiff adn yr good to go!

Nexus 6: regarding the wave editor. . . I don't know what
you mean. -_-

Can't you use microphones just to record directly to WAV
format?

Sound Recorder (>Start >Programs >Accessories

collecting avi's is quite nice!
only critique i have is to expand on that little pause about
3/4 thru.
maybe turn it into a bridge or something, coz it quite
piqued me interest!
fuhk with the voice sample more[the way you started to at
the end > it gets rather tediuous repeating through like
that]

D00d looks like I had better buy a microphone. . . how much
are they? I plan on buying the cheapest one available.

And anyway I've been running out of samples to use on Fruity
Loops . . . and I'm too lazy to buy one of those sample
cd's, because I might not like what they've got.

What better way than to make my own samples?

For making samples I just use whatever lies on my desk at
that moment. And then I add a lot of FX to that...

Ehm I've got one of those crappy microphones that came a
long free with my computer. You just have to mix the sounds
the right way and then even the worse recordings sound nice

And you can use samples from actual published songs, right??
Well that's sorta illegal unless you get artist's
permission, but. . . yanno.

FX, as in the Effects options of Fruity Loops?

or is this straight from fruity loops?

death smith. yes the effects of fruity loops.

Hehe yah the cool thing about electronica is that ordinary
people like you and me can make awesome music that rivals
much of the published material. . .

Because, unlike all other genres, it's easy to start making
electronic music, and it's easy to make music just as good
as the profression electronic musicians do.

The catch is though, is that it's HARD to make GOOD
electronic music, and it takes a long time. . .

I also play in 3 different bands...
one hard rock band
one experimental ambient rock band (no drums, very unique),
and a funk/lounge band..
In all these bands I play the guitar and I sing some
songs..
I've been playing guitar for 9 years.
And a year ago I started making electronic music...

woah wait

what?

its easy to make electronic music that is just as good as
the professional musicians do?

what are you talking about?

offline Nexus 6 from Netherlands, The on 2002-06-18 19:34 [#00273290]

does anyone else have opinions about the tracks?
I'm very curious..

yeah deathsmith it's not easy at all imo

offline Nexus 6 from Netherlands, The on 2002-06-18 20:01 [#00273368]

for me, it was just putting loops together at first, after
that I really started making music with fruity loops but it
sucked... I wasn't aware of the electronic elements yet. But
after months and months of creating new things I finally
discovered how to do it. I'm still learning a lot.
But I know the basics now and I'm adding my own style to
it..

It's easy for ME to make electronic music that rivals what
the professionals are capable of; it just takes a VERY long
time.

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-06-18 20:29 [#00273429]

Like, I'm talking over 10 hours of work for one 5 minute
song. . . it just takes alot of work, hard work maybe, but
the reason I say it's easy is because it's easy to learn how
to make electronic music, and the actual process of making
electronic music is quite easy.

i disagree

id like to hear your work.

are you signed to a label?

do you have a massive fan base?

you are being quiet cocky.

in addition, you are patronizing the talent that goes into
electronic music

offline Nexus 6 from Netherlands, The on 2002-06-18 20:53 [#00273484]

I think what deathsmith means is:
Not just anybody can pick up drumsticks and play this great
rythm before they even had experience.
However with electronic music, it's a bit more simple to
make a good tune. I remember making this awsome tune when I
first started making electronic music.
But it's still the song that does it. It's really hard to
make a song be good.
I think anyone can be able to make a good tune or two. It's
just the trick to keep on making these tunes cooler and
cooler and put them together and make a song out of it...

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-06-18 20:56 [#00273492]

i think its harder then playing an insturment... you have to
program every subtle nuance

i still tottally disagree
