oh cay, I've wondered about this for a long time...
do artists make DIRECT profit from the sales of singles?
I was told by someone that singles are chosen by the labels/record companies and only act as promotions towards the album from which they come. Plus, the labels get any profit that is made from these singles.
Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

If you are paying two pounds plus the artists are making money anything cheaper is promotional and the artist gets zip.
There was a ruling a couple of years ago that there could only be three tracks on a single cd or it wouldn't be considered for the uk charts.
