well...new age music tends to be on the cheesy side..its
like watered down ambient...
typically takes more influence from celtic and or native
american music
it also usually isnt so beat-oriented (some of it has a
cheesy hip hop or house beat see: enigma)

hahah it's pretty sad when your dad likes hipper music than
you do. "son, why are you listening to new age, are you some
kind of fag?" "dad, this is boards of canada!!! they're
idm/ambient, on warp records!" "sounds like some pansy shit
to me, whatever happened to balls out rock & roll?" "that's
it, i'm going to my room - and taking my x-box with me!
*SLAM!*"

doesn't new age music usually have some sort of pansy pagan
connotations like getting in touch with the earth goddess
and stuff? I think it tends to use a lot of corny nature
sounds, too.

yeah new age music is "spiritual journey" shit that goes on
and on with some theme like dream warrior o rinner goddess -
my mum listens to it - usually for meditation - there is
nothing good about it at all and it has nothing to d woith
the music you lsiten to

theres a flat behind ours belongings to a neonazi who rents
out his basement to a meth abusing pimp who writes new age
music. they once bought McDonald's and regrilled and resold
during a hard core metal show. i love it.

innovative communication is 1 of fav new age music labels
they made so many dope albumns. narada mystique is a good 1
to but they didnt have very many releases (the rest of
narada is not that good but theres some ok stuff from narada
equinoxe

but u know theres always more dope new age music out there
cuz lots of it was released just by guys who made up there
own labels or just put it out themselfs and theres no way 2
know whats good and not unless u find it by chance and
listen 2 it 2 see

there are really a couple conflated points in here

point 1: new age has not aged well. fits, given it's no
longer new.

point 2: not all new age is cheesy shite, just 95% of it.
so, i see no reason to big it up as a genre, but if you feel
like pulling out that 5% for me i'll listen to a mix you do

ledgendery repected genere. i think ppl will come around on
new age in time also

BIRTH OF A NEW AGE LAZY_TITLE it has alot of dope new
age songs but i know know i could make a way better 1 now

new age is boring music made in digital performer

italo disco is raw music made with crumar bit 01

offline wavephace from off the chain on 2013-03-24 02:29 [#02452542]
Points: 3098 Status: Lurker

i dunno how its made but its NOT BORING unless u dont pay
attention 2 it, i think most new age artits are better
composers then most idm artists, at least they have more in
depth structures in there songs

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2013-03-24 02:45 [#02452544]
Points: 25264 Status: Regular

that's retarded rationale. complexity does not automatically
equate to quality, and if you think it does you're probably
some slack-jawed philistine.

offline wavephace from off the chain on 2013-03-24 02:47 [#02452546]
Points: 3098 Status: Lurker

duh but im saying if ur listening 2 music 1 thing u can
listen 4 is the song structure and new age is more rewarding
then idm if ur listening 4 that

offline wavephace from off the chain on 2013-03-24 02:49 [#02452548]
Points: 3098 Status: Lurker

but theres new age artists who make uncomplex music and
theres idm artist who make songs that are more then 2 chords
repeated for the whole song also im just saying IN GENERAL

offline wavephace from off the chain on 2013-03-24 02:51 [#02452549]
Points: 3098 Status: Lurker

if somethings good it can be repeated and its still good tho
like that thomas dolby minds eye song i posted

the last guy to mention thomas dolby to me was an irish real
estate agent who asked me if i liked "trance" after i told
him i made electronic music

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2013-03-24 04:00 [#02452555]
Points: 25264 Status: Regular

"trance" is pretty much just a word that means "that music
with the stab chords" to most people. "new age" is beach
music to those same people. both genres are stuffed to the
brim with bargain-bin crap, and i was never interested
enough in either genre to dig through all the poo looking
for a peanut
