Not a big fan of Aranofsky, I like Lynch - I've seen most of
his films except for "The Straight Story." Blue Velvet is my
favorite one followed by Eraserhead.

Some other favorite directors - Coppola, Hitchcock,
Scorsese, Kubrick, Cameron, Gilliam, Coen Bros.

No one has mentioned Christopher Nolan yet? (following,
memento, insomnia)

Nolan and Arnofsky are the future of american film making

Memento didn't make any sense. If they guy couldn't make
new memories, he wouldn't remember that he couldn't make new
memories.

I like Lars Von Trier, along with most the directors listed
already.

Favorite films (from most to least, roughly): Amadeus,
Dancer In the Dark, Princess Mononoke, Quills, Waking Life,
Journey of Man, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Pi, The
Idiots, Holy Smoke, Liquid Crystal Vision, Mulholland Drive,
2001, A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove (or blah blah
blah), other Kubrick films, Elephant Man, Lost Highway, too
many, sorry, probably more.

By that logic how could he speak english? The last thing he
could remember what that he couldnt form new memories.

Anterograde amnesiacs don't understand that they can't form
new memories. I saw a thing about it on 20/20 or something
like that some time back. I thought the film was good,
apart from that one slight error. ;|

thats not true
Professor zoller at the university of washington teaches
freshman chemistry. he was my professor and he explained
(many times to the class) that he has no short term memory.
he is well aware of it. he teaches chemistry by following a
set curriculum and writing himself a lot of notes. he was
on oprah once.
one funny thing about him was that he would always tell us a
story about why he had a huge tea cup; that he got it in
russia where they drink weak tea. he told us this story at
least once a week during the quarter i had him as a prof.

i also worked with an american indian guy who had part of
his frontal lobe removed because of a stroke or something.
he had no short term memories but he could still learn to do
simple tasks through repetition and he could remember my
name after working with me for several months. funny thing
is, i can't remember his name... hmmm no wait.. it was
larry.

along with the mentioned directors, i also like
Peter Jackson
-dead alive
-meet the feebles
-heavenly creatures
-LOTR of course

and

alajandro jodorovsky
-el topo
-santa sangre

That'll be Jean-Pierre Jeunet. He's great; wicked
imagination. He turns me into a kid again, when your
imagination was more free and had fewer boundaries.

I like:

Woody allen
Shane Meadows
Martin Scorcesse
David Lynch
Mike Leigh
Ken Loach

James Cameron is the director and writer of such film as
Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, Abyss, True Lies and yes Titanic.
Peter Jackson did Braindead which is the most bloodiest film
ever made but also the most funniest :)

and oh yeah, he did a lil' side project called "Lord of The
Rings Trilogy" ;)

Chris Cunningham, Daren Aronofsky, and Tim Burton...that is
of course if you consider Chris Cunningham a movie
director...he's only really done short films and music
videos, and I think he helped out on the A.I. movie but I
know he didnt direct it.
