I just wanted to know if anyone had heard of the group before. allot of the music I listen to has a way of intertwine its self together and they all sound grate together. so am on a Aphex Twin site and Biosphere has very Ambient music that has a feeling that I associate with floating in space. yeah so basically I recommend that anyone who like's Richard's Ambient works checks out Biosphere. |

There are awesome. They did one track that was used for one of the funky levi adverts, just before the spaceman one, a track called Novelty Waves on the album Patashnic ( wrong speelling) on two slabs of blue vinyl. |

He is fantastic, and Substrata and Microgravity are amazing pieces of work. On the IDM favorites list Biosphere's ambient works are ranked right up there with Aphex's stuff, for real! here's the Bio: Biosphere's Geir Jenssen hails from Tromso, Norway, a city 500 miles into the Arctic Circle. A founding member of quasi-new age Norwegian trio Bel Canto, Jenssen recorded a pair of albums with that group for the Belgian Crammed label before departing to record solo, first as Bleep, then as Biosphere. He released a number of Bleep singles through the late '90s on Crammed subsidiary SSR, as well as the full-length The North Pole by Submarine, issued in 1990 and an acknowledged precursor of what became known as ambient techno. Fusing elements of composition derived from environmental experimentalists such as Brian Eno, Jon Hassell, and Walter Carlos with the rhythmic backbone of urban dance styles such as techno and acid-house, ambient techno's popularity would grow with the popularity of artists such as the KLF, Irresistible Force, Higher Intelligence Agency, and of course Biosphere. Jenssen first material under that name, the full-length Microgravity, appeared in 1991 on the Norwegian Origo Sound label, and was picked up for international release by R&S subsidiary Apollo the following year. In 1993, in addition to a score for the Norwegian film Evige Stjerner (Eternal Stars) and work for a multimedia installation, Jenssen collaborated with German ambient composer Pete Namlook on the Fax release The Fires of Ork, reissued the following year by Apollo. Jenssen returned to Biosphere in 1994 with a second full-length, Patashnik, and a subsequent live tour the success of which landed one of Jenssen's tracks ("Novelty Waves") in a Levi's commercial. In 1995, Jenssen collaborated with Higher Intelligence Agency's Bobby Bird, performing the live improvisational piece "Polar Frequencies," released by Apollo in 1996. The Biosphere releases Substrata and Insomnia followed in 1997; Cirque appeared three years later.. |

thanks PostModern, I didn't know allot that stuff. yeah I have been into his works for about a year now. yeah he's amazing. since you actually know who am talking about I have a track called "The Third Planet" its listed under Biosphere and thats all I have seen it listed under on the net... but not from what I know the song is not any album... so it makes me wonder if its actually Biosphere. so thought I would ask if you know anything about it. if you haven't heard of it download it and tell if you think it's Biosphere |
