I was actually trying to get at what IDM is to all these crazies on the board (I say crazies lovingly). people always want to know what style an artist is. not me personally though...

Orbital is not IDM. I would call them electronica. I see it this way: theres a sub genre in electronica i like to call electronica. sorta like New York, New York. Electronica is like Prodigy, Orbital, FSOL...that kind of thing.
What makes IDM? I don't know...a feeling...a different feeling from those aforementioned artists.

people get so crazy about classifying. its better just to reference by artists. "they sound like blah, blah, and blah" instead of saying "oh its downtempo 2-step ambient garage drum and bass"

for me personally, Orbital makes more sense being called IDM then Autechre... I know what IDM is, but by the name Intelligent Dance Music wouldn't Orbital fit that bill better? I mean they're intelligent, dancey, and it's music... Autechre isn't dancey at all really...

Ah, yes my fav. electronic artist out there. No, Orbital isn't really IDM. You can't really fit them in a genre other than 'electronica' because they use soooo much variety in their music.
Orbital is the shiet.

Its the one they made originally, didn't put it in the brown album, finished the album and put in Halcyon +on +on at the end.
So in fact there are two songs:
One called "Halcyon" on the works album(or 7" version) and "Halcyon +on +on" on the Brown album
