Ok, so do all you music fans out there think of this album?
I picked it up tonight actually, and am listening to it
now... I'm at Under BOAC on my first listen through, and it
sounds very impressive... obviously it'll take me some time
to get better aquainted with it, but so far so good... oh,
and a couple songs I had heard before, Acroyear2, and Rae,
sound absolutely fabulous compared to the MP3 versions I
had...

excellent choice if u like melodic stuff. in fact, i find it
to be autechre's most melodic album

Hey im listening to Corc right now...a dled version that is.
Its my fav on that cd :) Very jazzy. I can almost see a
conversation between two people when the high notes start
with the low notes. The other thing I instantly felt when I
heard that same part (when the higher notes start) was
almost a hug. I don't know it was weird. So...calming i
guess...intimate. Corc is kinda the intimate song on LP5.

lp5 is their best album! i just listened to it a couple of
hours ago on headphones, just lying down and paying
attention to every detail. really do take the time to get
acquainted with this fabulous release, it's so worth it.
each real track (exclusing melve and caliper remote) are
perfect.

ps - rae just blows my mind each time i listen to it.

Im listening to Rae right now. I love how at the 3:10 mark
it shifts gear to something slower...and gets more
distorted.

It's my favorite Autechre album. It has this CRISP fucking
sound.

And Rae is the best thing they've ever done. The insane
beats can't hide the sad, sad, sad synths, what a track.

Arch Carrier is just incredible... bah, now I have to listen
to it. Butthead.

What are you talking about? Caliper remote rules like kings!
It's awesome. It's so there...you have to bow down.

autechre talk is 'making me hungry' so i gotta get some.
resist the urges you ae fanatics and grab a cd!

Funkmaster: You're in for a funky surprise with Arch Carrier
if you have not already heard it!! Get ready to bob your
head...in a good way..er...yeah i'll shut up....

it's good, but i just dont consider it as a 'real' track.
more of an experiment or something. it's the same with
rettic ac (chiastic slide). the only track i truely dont
adore off lp5 is melve. it's ok, but not great.

I haven't been listening to the whole CD as much as I used
to -- though Under BOAC is one of my favorite songs ever

does anyone else think of tiny little robots when they
listen to acroyear2?

Lp5 - awesome, very digital sounding to me. just got it a
few months ago, went thru initial period of heavy listening,
then got Ep7, but now i'm still coming back alot to listen
to it, i think it grew on me after i stopped listening for a
while. my favorite songs (can't pick one) are Acroyear2,
777, Rae, Vose In, and Corc

Vose In and Fold4Wrap5 sound SO liquidy, I could drink their
music. Or something. I dunno. They sound cool, I'll leave it
at that. :-/

Aesthetically and viscerally (i think thats the right word
for sound), LP5 and EP7 for me are totally extremes. On one
hand LP5 is really digital and crisp (the crispest cd they
have imo) and EP7 is boged down by something that I can't
put my finger on. I was talking to Ophecks about this
before I believe and he agreed with me. There's just
something not right..but not wrong artistically...with it.

Oh my, what is going on with Drane2? This is fantastic!!!
I'm at around 5:00 into it, and it's changing!!

Im playing LP5 on my computer here ... and for the last
track (after drane2) ... track 12 it says its called Empty.
I never knew. I wonder if that's what its actually called

I thought there was supposed to be 10 minutes of silence
after drane2 or something? But I hear sounds on track 12...

There are 10 min of silence on my cd...you never heard any
silence?

I swear not many people can get away with having silence on
their cds. If you think about it. Who else would get away
with 10 min of silene other than these guys?

Autechre
John Cage
(maybe) Steve Reich

(I know john's was 4 min and 33 secs not 10 min..but
still...its silence)

Yeah, EP7 has this dirty feel, but it's good, because the
tracks are pretty mental... it sounds different, but I think
it suits the music.

Just like the clear sound on LP5 suits those. LP5 is
SLIGHTLY better, I think.

I guess so. I think my fav will always be Amber. Foil is
so sweet...silverside...awesome nodder song as is further.
Yulquen is the ultimate (besides biosphere) in ambience.
and teartear just leads so well into tri rep with industrial
sounds and just a pure agressive force.

strangely enough, the guy at the counter there actually knew
about Autechre... he asked me if I was a fan, and said
"Well, I haven't heard that one, but they're pretty cool!!"

he said he had heard Confield, but didn't really like it,
but I'm just amazed he even knew about them...

It's a great album. Very transitional, experimenting with
new and tasty aspects, good with a full bodied red wine.
Acroyear opens it perfectly, and Rae throws some nice
melodies at yah, but Arch Carrier is the crowing jewel of
this one imo.

does anyone else having problems playing Lp5 on cd though
??? I got a new copy that wont play in my cd player, it
plays in my flatmates one... but in mine half way into it,
it will just start skipping in a very weird way, for the
rest of the cd... I considered sending it back to the place
I got it, but couldnt be arsed, I guess it was a weird batch
of cds extra sensitive or something, and no there is no
scratches or any marks of any kind, brand new out of the
case.

i always think i dislike many of the songs off lp5, but i
really only skip the second track, which is utterly
irritating if you ask me. the rest is magnificent or just
plain lovely to listen to.

he said it was remarkable experience, orgasmic and blah
blah. didn't understand him, really.
