I doubt there's too many big fans of this album here, but
to hell with it.

It's so fucking great... so sappy and all that... but so
fucking great! One of the top 20, if not 10, best albums of
all time! I'm not a huge Beach Boy fan, but this album
really is a masterpiece, none of that surfer dude schtick.
2nd best album of '66, only The Beatles could top this
mother fucker.

It's SOOO depressing, for me, anyway. Brian Wilson is such a
musical genious, with an amazing voice. The lyrics are
really sappy but touching. Tony Asher wrote them, not Brian.
They're all about romance/breakup and whatnot, but who
cares... What a fucking album! Beautiful!!!

It's the total opposite of IDM, but hey, this is a music
site, so put it in your pipe and smoke it! Insert it into
your ass and manouver in a pleasing sexual manner as
desired! This album is great! And I wish pop music these
days would be more like this.

Agreed?

I love that album too. A lot of people wouldn't touch the
Beach Boys with a 10' bargepole but they did have some great
records.

How do you know it was the 2nd best album of 1966? You were
like -16 years old at the time.

Isn't he touring with a band at the moment...playing the
whole PS album...

There was a bit article in, I think, The Observer about it
last week by Phillip Norman (the guy did the beatle
bio???)...the interviewer felt real sorry for BW as he's
still got a lot of mental health problems & has a lot of
trouble forming sentences etc.....

I can't say I've heard it in a long time so can't really
comment...

I remember watching an A and E Biography about Brian. Showed
all his problems, drug and mental. I never liked the Beach
Boys, but there was some really great, beautiful song clips
on there, so I got the album. Was so much better than I
expected, and even better two years later.

That Brian was one messed up cat... too bad... more albums
like this one would be great, poor guy.

''......too much sappy_pappy_fun music for me. sowie! ''

That's what I though, then I heard THIS album... it's
amazing... I guess it can be pretty happy, but it depresses
the HELL out of me.

Nothing else they did can touch this album, and it's light
years ahead of Surfing USA and I Get Around and all that...

man, Eugene Landy fucked Brian right up, when he was at his
most vulnerable Landy got hold of his mind and didnt give
him it back for years.

Wilson is true genius, to produce such fantastic stereo work
while being completley deaf in one ear is unbeleivable.
great man, he was meant to be a bit fucked at the jubilee
yesterday, didnt see it, just sat behind his piano clapping
while everyone sung Good Vibrations

out of like tens of thousands of records that Jack Dangers
(Meat Beat Manifesto) owns, Pet Sounds is his #1 favorite,
and that to me says quite a bit.

Oh damn straight, you've gotta get this one! One of the must
have albums, you're not a real music fan if you don't own
it! It's scientifically proven.

I have it, and not just the MP3s! (amazingly). I have the
double long CD with the stereo and mono versions of it.
