It's a right mix of metric and imperial in the UK altho things are now moving into just metric...It's apparently the law that you now have to sell things like fuitnveg and fish in metric and several shopkeepers have been fined etc. fr carrying on with Pounds n Oz... But in a pub (a bar, yeah), beer is measured in Pints...that kinda thing is so deeply english (having a pint down the pub) , I can't see that ever changing... "Half a Litre of Guniess, please"..just doesn't have the same ring to it... (Shop bought beers comes in 500ml and litres in general, tho...)... Drugs are a bit of a mix as well....everywhere else in europe is all metric but the UK def isn't...like hash is generally bought/sold in Oz (or parts thereof, eigths etc..).. Speed n Coke is metric, grammes etc...Smack's both, depending who you buy from...kinda fucked up really... |

I think we Brits like single syllables when we quote prices in shops ... "two quid mate" "two bob" "ten pound please" "one pound ten" "quid a piece" If we get the "Eu-ro " What will be said? "two E" ( sounds like drugs ) "two quid" ( people will feel ripped off as 2 Euro's + 1 old quid ) "two pounds" (no way) "two euros" (It just sounds so un-English) I think we should just have $dollars and announce Europe the 53rd-89th states & have done with it :( |

ya you can buy weed in oz.s or grams over here. AN 1/8 is the normal amount 50 bucks a gram is 20 bucks. water is measuered in liters but milk is in gallons.. beer is always in oz. you have to buy two sets of wreches one in metric one in standard... randon |

Cfern: but in High Times, its been voted for about 5 years now in a row that BC and some of my province has had the killerist bud. Ive smoked shit load of american buds and its all shitty, even the stuff they have to pay lots for and say is the KILLERIST ever or something, the "one hit shit" is like. bland boring dope here.. you could be smoking some really good dope. but when I hear that you can even get brown dope,,, that sets off sirens in my head. |
