I'm just curious... who here is a Beatlemaniac, who likes them, who thinks they're ok, who's indifferent, who dislikes them, who hates them, etc. Not a debate about how great they are (there's NO debate about that, you're all Lennon's bitches, and so is every musician :-), I just want to see who likes them.
I obviously think they're God's gift to humanity, truly bigger than Jesus (Lennon was always right). Innovative as hell, and popular... imagine being the best and most imitated at your craft, AND being as popular as they were! Goodness gracious, great balls of fire, that NEVER happens anymore!
I would give my left nut, and possibly my right (they don't seem to have any particular use anyway) to have those four guys back together at this moment, and in their 20s. They'd change music all over again, I'm postive, AND they'd be the most popular band on earth because they're THAT damn good. The fact that they quit while they were just getting better makes me teary eyed, can you just imagine 3 or 4 more Abbey Road-like albums... music would be so much better if that had happened.
ENOUGH!!! I get too passionate about them. I digress.
Just want to know who likes them and how much.
I like the THIIIISSSS much. *extends outstreched arms

I'm very indifferent to the Beatles...probably the only one in the world who doesn't love their music to death. I'm sure if I gave it a chance I'd like it. But I do recognize and acknowledge their great contributions to music.

...(logs on), good evening Ophecks (clean screen i hope). i was a TOTAL Beatle nut in my younger days(groan).I read all the books, had all the records, knew stuff that would have bored someone to death etc. I still love 'em but not as intensely as i did (i used to think about the beatles all day and nothing else).I used to cry if 'Imagine' got played,I remember where i was when Lennon got shot,Seen Macca live,Have also got a photo of Harrison's fireplace (!) from his Esher home(it is no ordinary fireplace though, it is painted beautifully with Buddha's etc).I could go on....}:>

I love their straight forward-ness... that univeral appeal. They were UNDENIABLY creative and original, without alienating certain groups of fans. A 5 year old could sing along with Hey Jude, but the song is NOT childish, it's deep and touching. I love those guys!

RobE, that was me a year/two years ago, I lived and breathed the Beatles... I don't listen to them nearly as much now that I've got into electronic music and the like (they partly led me here), but I'll never stop listening to them every once in a while. I just put on some Strawberry Fields Forever, and they sound SO much better than Aphex Twin. :-) I just had to start a topic about them.

Oh man!!!
It's SO hard to choose one Beatles album... they were ALL the next step for the music world back then, they all have their own style and importance. I really can't pick one...
Maybe you should buy Beatles One, all the number one hits... almost 30 of them on one disc. Not their BEST songs, but their most popular.
Get these tracks
Strawberry Fields Forever (MUST HAVE) I am the Walrus (GET THIS ONE!!!) Here Comes the Sun A Hard Day's Night (flawless pop song) Come Together Eleanor Rigby (essential, download this amazing fucker) Rain Happiness is a Warm Gun Blackbird Something Because (AWESOME, listen to those voices, wowee) Birthday Sexy Sadie Yesterday (obviously) A Day in the Life (greatest song ever? Maybe) Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Tomorrow Never Knows (FIRST TECHNO SONG EVER, FROM 1966!!!!!!!!!!)
Nowhere Man In My Life Help Daytipper Glass Onion

One is about 80 minutes... one disc filled to the hilt with catchy pop songs. It's not their best songs, by any means... download the tracks I listed to get the best (MY favorite, anyway). But it's designed for people that have NO clue about them. It's nice and accessible, no weird stuff.
But personally, their weird stuff is what I love most! But One is damn good.

I can't believe I didn't list I'm Only Sleeping and Dear Prudence... for any other band, they would be their best tracks by far... for the Beatles, they're just two more days on the job. :-)
