Monkey Island 5 WILL happen

This is an article from World of Monkey Island
(www.worldofmi.com) for all you MI game fans, the webm, aster
spoke to an offical Lucas Arts representative at the E3 Game
show (Where Full Throttle 2 was announced)

1. Is it possible that we will see a Monkey Island 5 in the
future or have you definitely closed the book on that
franchise?

They are defiantly going to make Monkey Island 5 since it is
their most popular franchise. However, we shouldn't expect
it in the near future.

2. With every new version of Windows it is getting more
difficult to get the classic LucasArts games to run. Is
there any chance LucasArts will release patches that will
make the old games compatible with DirectX or perhaps
reprogram the games and release them all in a bundle?

LucasArts will consider doing something like this and they
are looking at all options, but there are both financial and
technical aspects to take into consideration. (In the
Mixnmojo interview with Simon Jeffery he said they are
considering streaming or downloadable delivery of those
games from their website.)

2.2 How do you feel about the fan-made programs that are in
development, which makes it easier to get the classics to
work on newer computers?

Tom Sarris was not familar with any of these programs, but
after a brief explanation he concluded that as long as the
programs make it possible for legal copies to run better on
new computers and doesn't promote pirating, he didn't see
any legal problems with them.

The conclusion is that Monkey Island 5 will defiantly
happen, but not in the near future. Also, it sounds like
LucasArts will eventually re-release updated versions of the
classic adventures in some way. And finally, they have no
problems with the fan-made programs that help the old games
work on newer computers. All very good news I must say :)

Enjoy =D
