Well for me, music vise, its the opposite of words like
energetic and grand and such things. i would call an album
like SAW 1 minimalistic.

if you live minimalistic, it just means you live with as few
things as possible.

Yeah, Glass is the British wing of Minimalists, but
americans (Reich, Tony Conrad...) are generaly considered to
be better. I like their music better, but I'm no
specialist...

Priest: Yeah, tho I couldn't figure out how to kill the
fucker before I read that thing i sent you.
What about doom 3? Is it out yet?

I like minimalistic. I'd say Photek is like that. And
there's minimalistic architecture & design, which has a
clean, modern look to it.

richie hawtin had a pretty cool quote about what minimalism
is - can't quite remember - but something like "not too much
but enough"? mmhh.. doesn't sound quite so great now.

minimalisim is using as few elements as possible in the
music to achieve as much as possible...using less to achieve
more..

Brian Eno Phlip Glass and even Aphex Twin can be
minimalistic

philip glass - music in 12 parts - this is great - if you
can bare listening to a piece of music which hardly ever
changes and lasts 4.5 hours
gavin bryars - the sinking of the titanic
steve reich - come out to show them & its gonna rain
la monte young - what can i say? - HE IS the definition of
minimalistic - hanging a microphone over a burning fire or
just pointing the microphone at the audience for god knows
how long and then telling them at the end that every noise
they made was in fact the music sounds rather crazy to me

The root word minimal should be clear enough, you can always
use a dictionary.

"hanging a microphone over a burning fire or
just pointing the microphone at the audience for god knows
how long and then telling them at the end that every noise
they made was in fact the music sounds rather crazy to
me"...

that would be alie-a-toric (spelling) but yeah... "CHANCE
MUSIC"... i didn't take a theory class for nothing :)
