Best song from ICBYD

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-05-28 15:42 [#00239091]

The Woxenpith. . . such a delicate, flowing, graceful
string melody over such an alien, indescribably reactionary
soundscape; the bass is extroardinary in this song, although
that's sort of inconsequential.

That's by far the best, it kicks Alberto Balsalm's ass, to
be sure. . .

yeah Acrid Avid Jam Shred is a very simple song, what with
the repetive and consistent drum kick/snare loop and all,
but it truly is an amazing song, although not as good as the
flawless masterpiece that is the Woxenpith. ..

yes that strictly instrumental piece shows that Aphex Twin
is capable of more than just electronica. . .

"Start As You Mean To Go On" is a highly underrated song, I
might add.

I like "Start As You Mean To Go On" quite a bit, and the
whole album is really good, but "Acrid Avid Jam Shred"
really takes the cake. It's the best summer song I've ever
heard - gorgeous but not intimidating or embarassing,
minimalist but not boring, emotional but universal. it's one
of those rare songs that still sounds fresh after the better
part of the decade (and I'd think it probably will in the
far future) and after hundreds of listenings.

get? ALL the tracks are great, tough narrowing it down.

yeah, start is underated, but what about Wax the Nip? Many
hate it, but I love it, it's got this other-worldly creepy
feel to it, I love the melody behind the weird electronic
inhale-exhaling sounds

grinding, crunchy background beat, with dark, progressive
orchestral peaks. . . incredible.
