The Beatles were and always will be a load of over-rated
rubbish. Thy didn't have nearly as much impact upon popular
music as some more unsung 'heroes'.

popular music...

Ermm.. They made history on a daily basis and every band
after them is trying to be them..so I don't see how they
suck.

Whether it was the way they used the studio, to their
interaction with their producer its all influenced popular
music forever. You totally can't disregard them like that
man.. They were it, with Chuck berry being the foundation.

The Velvet Underground are considered by some to be the most
influential band ever...

I think if the Velvets sold 1,000,000,000 plus like the
Beatles did, and the Beatles were only mildly popular, then
people would be raving about how the Beatles are the most
important, the Velvets are overrated, etc... there's a
stigma that goes with all the adulation, the pedestal
they're on puts them in sniping range.

Imagine what Lennon could do with the equipment these
days... Revolution 9 hinted at what could be done, and of
course Tomorrow Never Knows... what a shame they couldn't
put personal differences aside, I think they could have
taken music even further if they went till `74 or something.
Imagine 4 or 5 more whole Beatles albums to listen to... it
makes me sad. :-(

I don't like to analyze the Beatles too much. Excellent
songwriting is enough for me. Thumbs up to their Rubber Soul
and later output...

The amount of influence they had in relation to the time
they were recording (8 years I think?) is pretty amazing.
