just finished watching this film, starring nicole kidman,
and directed by auteur alejandro amenábar -- wow...really
was a great film; and i was surprised at the end, make no
mistake! now i wanna see "open your eyes" by the same
director -- really surpassed my expectations
totally...beautiful

yeah, i saw it last week.... it was really goood, apparently
based on an old novel, but still it was directed well and it
was really creepy and uncertain..... made me feel a bit
weak, then i went a watched Ring afterwards just to put me
further in the mood.

A definate thumbs up for 'the others'

I saw it a couple of months ago because it was 50 cent day
at the dollar movies (usually when I go to the movies) and
it was good but not as scary as I thought it would be. The
only scary part was when the door slammed shut, that scared
me so bad I almost pissed myself. I wasnt expecting it. I
didnt figure out the ending until a couple hours later after
Id thought about it. This house is ours...........This house
is ours......................

:D yeah me and the wife jumped when that door slammed shut
in nicole's face. and yeah, the film had that old-time feel
about it which certainly added to the charm

I didn't like the Others. I thought they were ripping
off the 6th sense way too much, but it wasn't as well
writen.

hmmmm, i thought about that 6th sense similarity, but i dont
think they were intentionally copying it...

They waited just long enuf for the 6th sence buzz to expire
before they decided to release their movie.

I think it would have been alot better if they had more
scary piss-yourself parts in that movie.

I think it would have been a lot better if they had written
an original plot.

How many books have that kind of plot?

How many recent movies?

They were running off of the steam from the sixth sence. It
was released a little over two years after the sixth sence,
when that movie was still in peoples hedz, but not so soon
that everybody thinks that it was a rip off.

Open your Eyes is much better I thought. Anyway you should
see it too, and don't even bother with Vanilla Sky, its
hollywood crap.

6th sense isn't that good a movie -- it gets pretty dull and
is only liked because of the twist-ending; personally i
prefer Unbreakable...l'autres is better than the 6th
sense, and just because they both feature dead people,
doesn't mean one has copied the other...titanic didn't copy
lifeboat just because both featured boats. the others, also,
wouldn't benefit from being an R/18 rated film -- havent you
seen the classic robert wise film "the haunting" from 1963?
the others is an old-fashioned chiller.
