as much as I hate bush, I don't think they could have done much. the details could have been patchy at best and the american gov't must get threats etc all the time, you can't just shut down all the airlines for these things

I think that the media isn't always 100 percent correct... thus, what they say might not be the whole truth, but something to get attention... but I really don't know...

well since bush was in on the plot, he could have done plenty to have stopped it; unlike Bin Laden, who probably knew nothing about it until after he was fingered.

right, I agree... it's easy to point the fingers after the fact, and say "You had information to stop this", but before the fact maybe the information really wasn't that different from any other threats, or at least wasn't enough to tell them when, where, how, etc, etc...

That may be the case but im not sure why this critisism is being aimed at Bush only??? he is after all only "one" man?
"Busch could have stopped the terrorist attacs" Atleast thats how its being portrayed in the news here.

fuck man, this board is annoying me, I typed out a long post and it 404'd
anyway, people are blaming bush alone because he himself is so disliked, and now the idiotic over-patriotism seems to be dying a *bit*, people are starting to ask questions, not least in the media
up to now, bush has had an easy ride, I think there's a feeling that's been a bit dangerous

"so unliked"? only by foreigners -- havent you seen his popularity rating? prior to this "new" development, his popularity rating was VERY high...

marlowe, you quoted me wrong, I said "so disliked"!
But yes, I should have stated I mean't in the rest of the world...I took it as common knowledge he was loved in america...all on the back of 9/11?

you know me better than that b3n! but i quoted two sources didn't i? and they aren't the US press anyways -- and come on, with the Bush Family's INCREDIBLY suspicious and dodgy past, how could ANYONE believe that bush gives a rat's ass about the US citizenry? are they THAT fucking blind/dumb/ignorant that they buy that? how could they vote him as president? i'm STILL incredulous that they did -- and, of course, doubtful that they did...

yeah, I think *I'm* cynical, but compared to you, i'm nothing! Well, if his brother (jed?) loses his place in florida its going to be a big blow to the republicans. Its all down to money and influence, it stinks and i've thought that since the day he won. I'm not a huge fan of gore (and ESPECIALLY some of his wifes policies and views) but he seemed to have a bit more integrity and realism

i'm really not cynical at all -- at least, not in a day-to-day reality framework -- i just think we are being fucked over BIG TIME by politicians and their corporate puppet masters -- from that simple hypothesis, it's easy to see why i may appear somewhat cynical ;)

It's ironic that you won't quote the USA press, but you'll quote Bloomberg. If anyone could be in the political pocket, it would be them. Your other source seems a lot more neutral.
