I haven't listened to it in a while, but Peter Gabriel's
Passion is the very best imo... it works for any mood, any
feelings, any situation... it's good for background, or
concentration... I love it to death!!!

for me: Bjork - Homogenic

First I only liked a few songs on it,
(Pluto even scared me,I didn't dare to listen to that)
but I learnt to apreciate this album, and now,I love every
single song on it!

I think Abbey Road by the Beatles is pretty much pefect...
if it wasn't for Maxwell's Silver Hammer (which I like, but
it isn't good ENOUGH), there would be no flaws.

As was Passengers.
Ok Computer is the best album ever made

Ok computer is great.....Amensiac just does it for me even
better. As for Pop yeah its good but not their best. that
was a more fun cd.

That's pretty cool. You're the first person besides my
friends who seems to really like Amnesiac. Most people just
overlook as "Kid B"

hah, i'd never have U2 in my proximity, I hate them, well
not hate, but generally loathe

Radiohead on the otherhand, I agree

OK Computer is amazing

Well youre not the first to loathe the only band I've been
to 3 concerts too but at least you like Radiohead.

As for Shibumi( nice name)
thanks for the acknowlegment, as for Kid B is that like a
private joke between friends??

I love U2... I think they're great... Actung Baby is
excellent, Zooropa is really good, but a bit inconsistent I
think... Pop is another excellent one!!! I think Pop is
cool... they mix rock with clubby dance music... I dunno, I
like it... their new album is pretty lame, every song just
about has been worn out on the radio...

I haven't heard Passengers, but I really should search it
out and get it...

i agree with b3n - u2 are possibly the worst most contrived
try to hard to be original band in the worl d - dreadful -
they always sound fake whatever they do

offline secondtoughest from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-05-15 22:39 [#00221505]
Points: 102 Status: Regular

I somewhat disagree with you astrid-gil-botn. Their
pre-Actung Baby music was quite good and very original for
it's time. They were a band with a purpose...very
political.

After that though, they did what so many bands have done.
They turn to POP shit and tend to go away. Just look at
Metallica.

I think their newest album is pop crap... decent pop I
guess, but still pure pop... I think that Achtung Baby
through Pop were great albums... they were radio friendly,
sure, but they mixed in techno stuff with it... I quite like
those albums actually...

there always seems to be at least one song that fucks up an
otherwise perfect album, but I think I can name a few

pixies - surfer rosa
birthday party - junkyard
sonic youth - daydream nation
brian eno - on land
cocteau twins - treasure
labradford - mi media naranja

Herbie Hancock- "Manchild"

Before this, I listened to nothing but metal/punk/ and a
very little Jazz. This is the album that made me fall in
love with the back beat, and to this day has the funkiest
smell that I've ever wiffed....

This is of course, subjective....I think everyone has had an
album that changed the way they think about music....

I Care Because You Do, LP5, SAW2, Feed Me Weird Things,
Claro
, and Pole's CD 1 are all in the running for
me, but Massive Attack's Mezzanine ultimately takes
the cake. here's my criteria:

1) Adheres a certain theme or aesthetic (which can be
subtle) but varies enough to keep things interesting
2) Seems to tell a story, but is vague enough that several
stories could be inferred from it
2) Can be approached both analytically and as background
music
3) Emotional and passionate but not to the point that I can
only listen to it in very specific moods
4) Has a definite introduction and closing, so that when
it's over I feel like I've been on a journey or adventure
5) Timelessness - this is very rare, I can't quite put it
into words but Selected Ambient Works II achieved it
overall and Drukqs and Hangable Auto Bulb did
in certain parts. Something to do with not only the notes
and tempo, but the quality of the sound and production.

The League Unlimited Orchestra - Love and Dancing. The
perfect pop of the Human League remixed and mega-mixed (sic)
into a supreme 35 minute journey of electronic music. I was
given this as a present 22 years ago and it still gets
played at least once a month. Any fan of electronic music
should own this album.
