I just downloaded this yesterday, I have to say it's great
stuff. WHO is Jega, what label is he/she/them/it on... I
need to do some research on Jega, but I don't know the label
or anything. Must get more Jega.

he's on planet µ - he's the sole reason mike p created the
record label
he's done 2 cd's for µ spectrum and geometry
jega is otherwise known as dylan nathan - a college buddy of
mike and aphex . he did a couple of 12"'s on skam but ebay
is your hope for getting them or audiogalaxy....

I'm too damn lazy!!!! I looked at Warp and didn't see
anything, so I tried somewhat...

Thanks, Tango. Planet Mu, hmm... quite the label that's
turning out to be...

Yes, Jega is damn good. I'm glad I bought Spectrum about 2
years ago when I did. Can't find the damn release anymore
near me.

I personally like Spectrum better, since I like his drilling
in that album.

Dylan, Mike, and Rich all went to the same architecure
school at one point in time. Odd, how they all turn up
doing the same thing.

I love Geometry. I have wondered why I don't hear Jega
mentioned more often.

it's a great album no doubt... but isn't he on Matador
records? That's what it says on my copy... or is he just
distributed by them or something?

offline revpersona from Plainfield (United States) on 2002-05-15 04:03 [#00220294]
Points: 3167 Status: Lurker

They just distribute it. I mean on Geometry, I'm pretty
sure you can spot the µ sign.

Yeah, I don't know why I haven't made Jega related topics.
This guy is really damn good, I would make comparisons, but
for the sake of flaming, I'll leave it at that.

I don't see any mu sign... but on the actual cd I just
noticed it say's "All_rights_reserved_All_Wrongs_reversed"

:)

offline revpersona from Plainfield (United States) on 2002-05-15 05:59 [#00220353]

Yes, that would be on Spectrum, I found that funny too.
Hmm, I could of swore I saw the µ sign on their somewhere
with a white outlining.

Geometry is licensed to Matador in the US, and on Planet Mu
in the rest of the world.

Is there any information on his next release?

Getting to know this album much better now, this should help
make the summer less painfully boring. I wish Autechre would
put up an LP, that would make it the greatest summer in the
history of the planet.

this album really is fantastic... It's just amazing what he
does with sound on this album... it's more of a mood type
album for me, meaning I listen when I'm in the mood for it,
not really anytime... but when I am in the mood for it, it's
fantastic... I love it!!!

He also has some tracks on various SKAM comps. Track 4 off
of Spectrum, Red Mullet I believe, is f'n amazing. Big Band
Jazz via electronics, very nice. That 'Tron' cover is
excellent as well. He deserves better record sales.

himself.

Jega Unity Gain and Kid Spatula Hard Love which is a
classic. On lovely clear vinyl...

nah

geometry is by far the best.

also get mp3s of his first ep (ska006) and his second (card
hore), both originally on skam. both can be bought at
astronomical/manageble (respectively) prices on eBay..

I listened to a few songs from Spectrum the other night, and

fantastic!!
