quoth, i used to be a HUGE cure fan, backcombed hair and
everything:) and i still like them a lot. pornography is
probably my fav album ever. anyway, have you heard any good
bootlegs with them? i have one from around '82 wich is
sweet, and i'm looking for more of that stuff(since i have
almost every official release)

her when i was 9 or 10.

heh I grew up on em..too..17 seconds was my first..I looved
The Forest..and Pornography is one heavy as shit dark and
spooky album..most of the fans around me left when their
stuff..got happier..but I loved it..there's too many amazing
ahead of it's time songs in the Cure's repetiore....The
Caterpillar..Love Cats..Lullaby is psychoticly lovely..Kiss
me Kiss me Kiss me..is a strange and deranged album..and I
love that song they did on mixed up....Never Enough..that
really really rocks..

and no wonder I couldn't remeber an album called
Galore..it's a compilation ..heheh..

I basically had to stop listening to em..because my wife
absolutely despises the Cure :(..hm..doesnt stop me from d/l
some of those great songs and listening to em at
work..hmm..worth a thought..

I like only 3 cure albums, Disintigration, Pornography and
Bloodflowers most of their other cds are too poppy for me

i've always like 'High' - the 1st single from Wish, more
than Friday i'm in love.

I hate Friday I'm in Love--one of the worst Cure tracks
ever.
The others are new or from Wild Mood Swings ;)

I love all the tracks on WISH..I was going through a low
period in life and I kept playing the whole album over and
over and over...it was very comforting...

I've never really listened to them, never bothered to get
into them. I should, eventually, I've got nothing against
them, from what I heard from them, they're pretty good. Just
too much new music lately, my head is exploding, no time for
some bands, unfortunately. Sorry, The Cure! Sorry, Robert
Smith.

If you like Radiohead, and The Beatles, and other good
music, The Cure would probably be right up your alley!

I'm pretty sure every person in my 200 student high school
class had a copy of Disintegration ... it was really huge.

I only have their first American release, Jumping Someone
Else's Train is my favorite song off that one.

couple of my all time favourites..

Love Radiohead, love the Beatles (obviously!!!)... I'll give
them a shot.

Time to look at Allmusic.com, that's sites helpful for
situations like this. :-)

saves me starting a new thread :) lets all worship the
cure!

i've just been recenty getting back into them, no band
around today comes close to them, so many bands are inspired
by them but they aren't half as good.

listening to the Kiss now, this song is soooo good live!

maybe you only heard the recent single shich wasn't too
good, their last album Bloodflowers is one of the best
albums they have made, not many bands can make an album of
that quality at this stage of their carreer

i thought bloodflowers was brilliant

it had a really good sound to it, and it was engineered
brilliantly too

i'm down for the cure......i've never bought any of their
albums, but "boys dont cry" "lullaby" and "close to me" are
3 of my favourite tracks ever.

what album should i get my hands on first?........no
"greatest hits" albums or comps....i'd rather listen to an
individual album.....

kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Pornography
Disintegration

all the above are excelent places to start, 'kiss me, kiss
me, kiss me' is very eclectic, and works brilliantly. Also
it contains 17 tracks so its great value.

I went through my Cure phase really quickly, and a fun phase
it was, great band. I had a dream that Robert Smith died the
other day and there were vigils here and vigils there. Lots
of crying people.

isn't a new album supposed to be released this year?
not a remasterd album, but entirely new songs?

yes, probably towards the end of the year.

Ophecks: you'll have another 'Cure phase' just as soon as
you listen to a couple of songs by them, happened to me the
other day. Hadn't listened to them for ages, then i listened
to Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me and i remembered what an
awesome band they are... now I can't stop listening to them
again :)
