Can anyone recomment something a complete newbie could use to make music? I want something maybe to learn on, but I don't want one of those shitty cartoon things, I want one to make decent choons on when I learn...any suggestions?? (i'm on windows 2000 is that makes any difference) |

Im a noobie aswell, i have fruity loops 3 and tuareg, the more time you spend on them the more you learn. Its alllll trial and error buddy |

I really recommend Sonic Syndicates Orion Pro, its the nuts and easy to use (and low cpu usage) |

fruity loops and tuareg are like $400 but if u have a fast internet connection just get them off morpheus or any other file sharing program |

Yeah... fruityloops is prolly the most circulated cracked program out there. Ironically its also one of the cheapes programs out there. Spoonz... if you looking for something cheap/free, and don't want to stoop to our level you could always just use buzz. |

i tried orion pro and it crashed my computer continuously.... ...i used fruityloops 3.4 and Cool Edit Pro to sequence... floops is good for its simplicity and versatility -- you can just loop shit without using the piano roll, or you can go in and individually programme everything, which i do - with satisfying results :) |

what!?! trance? no...only if you want to make trance. its got a sampler and a drum macine for your own samples so I think just those 2 things mean it isn't limited to trance, and the synths have plenty of effects...sure its marketed towards trance but only if you want to be lazy |

I use Fruityloops... or USED to, anyway! I haven't touched it in like two months, I have no idea why... I really have to start doing something with it, I need something to keep me busy this summer! Bah. |

orion is good but im having problems with it sending program change messages(or rather NOT sending) fruityloops is a beautiful toy that can be put to pro use. always fun. dreamstation is a must. no soft synth beats it out there but better not used as an only item in your arsonal. ive got fruityloops, cool edit, cakewalk sonar, cubase and a bunch of other top quality programs but i actually paid for dreamstation cause i couldnt find it on the web and i really wanted it. |

get fruityloops and cool edit pro you can do just about anything with that combo. then later see if you can find the native waves gold pack plug ins. look on soulseek they have all of this. |

yeah...you can get pretty much any software for free... but i only use ones that are free anyways.. like tuareg and sawcutter..both have free versions which have been working fine for me |

Get a SAMPLER(emu, akai, ensoniq, roland). Hardware is better In my opinion. The EMU ESI 4000 would be perfect its cheap but it does alot cool sampler. Because your online i assume you own your own computer. Native instruments has some really good Software, REAKTOR & BATTERY, you have to have a pentium III. Some others: cubase VST, protools, rebirth, reason, cakewalk. |

Kontakt is cool but it's software representation of the Roland VP9000 with filters. I find it nice to have dedicated outboard stuff just so you focus on the job at hand, not really samplers but drum machines and synths can be more expressive when played 'live' |

I agree with synths/drum machines, but I really think software samplers are better, who has time to edit on a tiny LCD display when you could be using your entire monitor? |

I allways use my computer for editing samples but I still use an EMU E4X for playing them, it's probably just habit really, but there is about 30 filters so everything is really seperated before I try and mix the beast! I've got the VP 9000 but I hardly ever use it 'cos it's time consuming messing about with the little screen and then I've lost my funk! |
